how much cc of air is enough to kill something. i ****ed up.

not for myself though. I gave my dog a 5 way vaccine that i got from the tractor supply store. and man im such a ****ing idiot. i dont understand me at all. i always forget something important... I have a 3 ml syringe. and i injected 1 ml of liquid into my dogs neck. but i didnt push any air out because i am a ****ing dumb peice of shit and wasnt thinking. and i put it into his neck. now my hear is beating and im scared shitless.
its been 10 minutes and my dog is fine but im still ****ing worried... this is the 3rd time im giving my dog a vaccine and this is the only time i ****ed up... I did everything right the first 2 times. Its just that this time, i just couldnt remember the most important thing... getting the air out . I usually push out the air but i have so much on my mind right now that i wasnt thinking and i didnt push the air out.

dog is 40 pounds and the syringe is 3 ml which probably had a legit 0.08 ml of liquid.. so 2.2 of that was pure air... i grabed the soft skin on my dogs neck to inject him.

and if it would kill, how long till death would occur.

no blood went into the syringe, so i dont think i hit a vein? if u guys can apply ur injection knowledge with this, it would help.

    recap
no blood into my syringe so i dont think i hit a vein?
    dog is 40 pounds
about 2.2 ml of air went into my dog.
its been 10 minutes and he is fine. so surely he is ok right?death would occur in 5 minutes if something went wrong?

Twin your not the only one who has done this probably on themselves even. I've come close myself when I first started on my very first cycle I was so excited I had drawn the test into the pin and jabbed it all the way into my quad only to realize I forgot to expel the air. But I caught it there and just pulled the pin back out, changed tips as I like to use a fresh sharp pin on each use. This is the first and last time I ever did it. If your dog is still alive and kicking by now and not showing any signs of adverse effect, I wouldn't worry about it. He should be ok. Like me I bet you wont do that again, especially to Old Roy! Sorry but I couldn't resist the dog playing dead...my bad..

Your dog should be okay, if the shot was not intravenous.

A lot of people freak out far too much about air. Do you realize how much air is required to kill someone, even in an IV shot? I think it is somewhere around the mark of 50ml of air reaching the left ventricle is required to cause an embolism. The more air injected, the greater chance of a fatality. Now, if it goes into an intramuscular or subcutaneous shot, it won't do anything. It sounds like you injected your dog subcutaneously? He's fine.

What where you looking at while you were pushing the plunger in? How could you push in 2mls of air and only 1ml of liquid without noticing. Toe dogs going to be fine I'm just wondering how one could not notice all that air?

hmmm, I push air in each time I inject because i put a bubble behind it so I don't leave any test in syringe.

Yeah the ole Z-Track method. Some do some don't. But yeah it assures you of getting all test even that left in the needle itself.

    That's not the z-track method.

Z-track method is where you pull the skin to the side, stick the needle in to do your injection, and then when you pull the needle out you let go of the skin so that it cuts out any possibility of gear/oil leaking back out. As shown here:

What you described is something different, I don't think there's a name for it. I do it too, I leave half a ml of air at the bottom of the syringe to push any and all oil left in the needle out so I don't have any wasted gear.
