    Blood work question

I just got some blood work done. Wanted to make sure everything was straight before i started my next cycle. I dont have a copy of the lab results yet but my doctor called me this morning and said everything looked normal except that my liver levels were high. He wants to do a liver ultrasound now. This is the first time i have ever done blood work. Is this something i should be worried about? My last cycle was a year ago. I dont know if i posted this in the right section if not i can move it. thanks.

Do you drink much alcohol? He's probably referring to ALT and AST which can be elevated by a bunch of things other than the liver. Cells can be damaged and die off or be inflamed and certain NSAID's can raise values as well. So can to much junk food.

I dont drink at all quit about 2 years ago. I got a copy of the results. ALT was 71 and AST was 41. Im not sure what that means but i was told it is high. I take 15mg of creatine a day and other supplements too not sure if that could be causing it.

Well, there you have it. It's more than likely the creatine elevating your levels. During exercise creatine basically turns to creatinine which is what they use during testing. Your doing more than your bodies normal amount so it can throw tests off. Reduce the amount a bit, drink more water. You'll live.

Last couple sentences of the last paragraph are interesting:

thanks for the help kelkel. I hope it was the creatine that caused the high levels. THe doctor scheduled a ultrasound for my liver so i guess we'll see.

Would taking liver supplements like milk thistle help any?

It may. I think if you stopped the creatine for several weeks then re-tested you'd see a difference. Might want to arrange that prior to the untrasound if possible. Doc's being cautious which is a good thing. Just don't fall for a liver biopsy just yet!
