Hypothyroid anyone?

Hi guys- just diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroid. Starting on Armour Thyroid 60 mg. few questions : anyone not take meds for Subclinical Hypo if TSH is high but T3 and T4 are normal? Anyone have success on Armour? Would TRT have any negative affects on thyroid? Thanks!

Depends how high TSH your talking about....if is just above and your feeling okay, with fine ft3/4 then I don't see the problem. But if you still have the hypo systems, then medication should be given to get the the upper range in t3/t4 to see if it helps.

I don't like armour since I like to dose t3/t4 by themselves to give better control, but armour works for many.

TRT does not have any negative effects on thyroid that I know about....but you should think of yourself on HRT. It's not just about testosterone, that is the big player but everything counts.

If you could post some specific lab numbers/ranges be bit easier to see what's going on and give a better opinion.

My TSH was high and T4 was "in range"... Don't know what T3 was because it wasn't tested. I am also on Armour Thyroid and am feeling somewhat better. I am now able to lose weight again which I could not do before the Armour no matter what I did. I can't think of any negatives for TRT on thyroid. Just the opposite - there is a good chance your thyroid brought your test down.

Guys thanks for the responses! Labs:
t3: .97 (just above range) (.8-2.0)
t4: 6.3 (about mid range) (4.5-11.7)
TSH: 5.2: high (0.2-4.2)
Symptoms are: HBP, fatigue, low ferritin etc so yes- I will stay the course on the meds and see how I feel. Kind of excited to see the outcome on armour and if this puts me back to normal.

Yeah with those numbers I'd def recommend treatment if your feeling sides. t3/t4 have a long way to go to get into upper range, that should bring down your TSH around 2-3 I'd guess. I'm sure you'll see some benefits on armour.

With your low T3 you might want to test your RT3. Your T4 really isn't midrange either... Like Allaaro said 'how are your symptoms'?

Also if HBP=high blood pressure then keep in mind one possible side of TRT is high blood pressure.

Been on TRT for over 5 years with no BP issues. Within the last few months my symptoms include HBP fatigue dizziness brain fog - lots of hypo symptoms. With my high TSH and symptoms I think armour will give relief. I retest labs in 7 weeks

Had a thyroidectomy in 1993. HRT should not cause any problems with your thyroid. My ENT who removed my thyroid prescribed my HRT.

NyJetsFan, would like to keep up with how your treatment goes. I was just started on Armour 60mg myself about 3 weeks ago. I have posted my latest numbers below. I think I have always been boarderline but you wouldn't know it to look at me. I am 45 and within about 8 lbs of what I was in high school.. Always just thought I had a fast Metabolism... so never thought hypo.

I have been on Test Cyp 200mg a week for about 6months now and still not not gained any/much muscle.

Curious what your results have been muscle wise on HRT and what your current protocal is?

TMan, your TSH numbers could use a bit of dialing in....but with 6 months of 200mg test and those numbers, I would expect the problem to be in the weight room or the kitchen if your not getting any/much muscle. Or you could be thinking that 200mg will get you huge.....this isn't a cycle for bodybuidling....its just to replace natty levels. You should gain some, but it will be slow even if exercise/diet is done right.

NYJet, how has your weight been? Myself I had no BP problems but when I got on TRT I added lots of weight and bit more bodyfat once I got eating my face off and lifting like a mad man...look way better but my BP increased. Added in some cardio 2-3 weekly and CoQ10 supplement with losing bit of weight solved my problem with BP.

Tman: been on TRT for a few years- 150 test cyp per week and muscle gains have been solid. As Allaro mentioned (spot on) diet is so critical. I can't say enough about this. Been training for over 25 years and still learning about diet! (I'm 43). 200 mg is as high as ill go on TRT but everyone's different. I'm curious how your armour treatment goes as well.

allarro: Weight is good no issues there -diet is good as well. My BP started rising with my hypo symptoms and been taking BP meds. Hoping armour will level me out.

Tman96 - Not enough for a cycle but if you're like me it will allow you to return to what you used to gain in the past. Before I started hrt I could not lose weight or gain lean mass. Now I am back on track.

Tman- how's is going on the Armour? I've been feeling a lot better after 60 mg and 2 1/2 weeks. Hopefully it's light at the end of the tunnel...

Hey jet fan... It's been about four weeks for me now and it does seem like I might have more energy. I wasn't feeling really bad before but my TSH was off the chart. Will be interesting to see how my blood work looks when I go back in December. Also interested to see if this makes a difference in my ability to gain muscle.
