London Marathoner Died After Using Now Banned Supplement - Jack3d

I know this is an old story but I had not heard of it until this morning. I don't know a whole lot about DMAA... so I'm curious if you guys think it was the actual supplement that attributed to her death or if it may have been some sort of pre-exhisting heart condition? Basically, is it the media being the media or is this shit dangerous? I know that anything can be dangerous if not taken as directed and in large doses.

It says "yet no official connection has ever been made between her passing away in said manner and DMAA" so then why the hell was it banned by the World Anti-doping Agency?

I recently started trying out some pre workout drinks and have been taking jack3d for the past couple of weeks. This has me thinking twice about continuing to use it. Anyone else overly concerned?

Marathon running in itself is bad for the heart. So I wouldn't attribute her death to Jack3d necessarily. I've been using the product myself regularly and I find it rather mild in effect. Of course I'm not running marathons either. I'm sure these stim pre-workouts aren't exactly good for your body, but look at it like this, they sold a lot of this stuff. If it was really causing people to drop dead, there'd be a hell of a lot more of a bodycount.

Yeah, exactly. I thought about that right after I posted this. I have read that new research has indicated that marathon running is bad for your heart. My girlfriend is currently training for a half and I couldn't even imagine doing that, much less a whole marathon.

One time I had three sample packs I jack3d after I ran out of mine. At that point I was at the three scoop max. So being I had sample packs, my assumption was each pack had a single scoop in each. Not paying attention TI the volume of powder I used all three packs that contains three scoops each!! Most intense arm workout EVER!!!!! Then extreme vomiting and heart racing to the point of blakig out in spurts. I double check my stuff now lol

But at the same token, bodybuilding isn't exactly a heart-healthy sport either. I don't think a healthy person, from a regular dose of Jack3d, is going to have a heart attack though. I bet that runner, in addition to having heart problems, was abusing the pre-workout. I'm guilty of it too since I don't "feel" it when I take just one scoop.

Next time you do something like that, just go with it and enjoy the amped feeling. If you get all nervous that's when things go bad.

That's what I did at first but after I calmed down and my heart was beating super intensely still is when I started to worry

Its tough to blame death on a single supplement, and IMO unfair. Yes if taken incorrectly or abused DMAA can have some negative effects. I'm not saying it couldnt possibly contribute in some way but I would be interested in preexisting conditions or family health history before going on a witch-hunt and blaming her death on a stim...just like steroids gave lyle azedo cancer right?

Dude you cant say that, 1. the girls dead, have some respect. 2 She had run marathons before, her heart rate was so slow when measured at rest stations it went undetected, she was going for a PB. 3. She declared to her boyfriend she would only use the jack3d if she hit a 'wall'. 4. she died 1 mile from the finish post. 5. The coroner said it was not one contributing factor alone that caused her death, it was a combination of both marathon and DMAA.

    Just saying.

    Heres my take

Preworkouts have noticeable effects on the body - shaking hands, nausea, feels like heart rate goes up, fluids swell around the muscles to give bigger pump, heightened alertness. You take all that and you throw a MARATHON on top of it its a recipe for death. I feel a little stupid lifting weights on the stuff, but we are talking a marathon an event that tests your cardiovascular system and can push it to the max. If you dont believe me get on a treadmill that measures heart rate and push it up above what you normally do and really quickly you will see your heart rate go up as well.

Heres what I think is happening - People are saying to themselves "I'm an athlete. I'm a marathon runner. I can take this and I'll be fine because I'm conditioned." But they aren't factoring in that the physical activity of the athletic event is already pushing their body way past normal intervals of cardiovascular activity. When I lift weights on the stuff, my heart isn't reaching 4 hits of LSD levels I mean comon.

I'm speculating. I think the possibility of abusing pre-workouts is very possible. How many athletes do you think drink those stim preworkouts like they're water? It's not really disrespectful to her to want to explore WHY she died, besides I don't she gives a fvck. I've been reading quite a bit about marathon running causing damage and wear to the heart. It's not natural for the human body to run long distances like that and then add to that stimulants that force the heart to pump even faster and harder.
