    Important info needed!!

Heyy whats up everyone? Just signed up for this forum today because it seems like the best place to come for the answer I am in need of

Late last year, I was fired from my job in Northern Alberta on Kearl Lake because I was in possession of steroids. I had 3 vials, no large amounts. I was told that the drug dogs had sniffed it out in my room and i was hauled off site and brought back to camp while my room was searched. This seems kind of odd because I have had them before on different sites and have had notes left on my bed after work that my room was randomly searched by drug dogs, and nothing was found. When the security seen what I had the first thing he asked was if I had a prescription for it. I of course didnt and had no way of getting one, so they gave me 24 hours to get one or i was to be taken off site with my camp privelages provoked. A few rooms down the hallway from me, i know 200 percent sure of a guy that had it as well, more than me, and his room never got "detected" by the drug dog.
In doing some research on this, all I could really find was, in canada, it isnt illegal to possess them as long as its not in large amounts for selling. Because of this "dismissal", I have had trouble finding work and therefore money problems since, not to mention the embarrassment of people thinking I was let go from the possession of narcotics!!

Any insight would help!! Thanks peeps!!

Not really sure what you are asking here. Are you wanting to know the laws of the area you were living?

I guess I wasn't really clear eh? I am wondering the laws and i am wondering if there is anything I can do/say to my old company. I was told I have a lifetime ban on me now for certain projects owned by this company. Which makes it extremely hard to find work. I know a friend who had the same thing happen and he asked the local police station and they said he shoudnt have been fired

Though they are not illegal to posses in Canada if you are staying in a camp or employer supplied living place you are subject to their rules. Someone probably ratted you out, there is not much you can do. Move on to a new place of work.

Yeah I'm confident that someone ratted me out. Just hard to find work now because the only work going on right now in my field is at this site

Do you have to use them as a reference? You had no charges pressed against you right?

I would request them returned to you as they are not illegal to posses in Canada.

You were likely fired because you were in contravention of their camp policies on AAS - not the law.

As Redz pointed out Steroids are a class three drug and possession is not illegal. BUT, their policy is that no Steroids are allowed in camp. Its the same as finding alcohol in a dry camp. Alcohol is legal but not permitted in camp. You broke policy, therefore you were fired. End of story.

I agree with this as well. They should be returned to you if you ask.
