    Russia bans Gay Propaganda

Has anyone else seen this? In Russia it's not against the law to be gay but it is against the law to promote homosexuality. Many are calling this homophobic but I'm not entirely sure if it is. Not all homosexuals seem to be this way, but many and I do mean many tend to have their entire lives revolving around their sexual orientation in a way that is publicized to the entire majority of the population. This is not a good thing IMO. Now don't misunderstand me, I'm not a big fan of regulating behavior on the basis of morality. I am a big fan of the old Jefferson saying "if it neither breaks my legs or picks my pocket what business is it of mine?" However, some of the homosexual propaganda goes beyond this line in the U.S. and I'm sure it does in Russia as well. Anyway, I don't know enough about this new Russian law to form a full opinion but I did find it interesting.

I agree with this, but when you think about it straight guys (especially when juicing) tend to do the same thing you just don't really notice it as much because it seems normal. When Im with my boys we are basically talking about broads most of our conversation.

It's noticed, it's just that it's not okay to say anything about it....

True, and I'd imagine gay guys talk that way too when they're hanging out. But homosexual behavior is often promoted and praised for some reason, at least here in the U.S. You have the parades and things like that and then you have TV shows and movies that seem to purposely try to promote homosexuality.

You know many who are heterosexual feel that blatant acts and promotion of heterosexual activity in front of their face and their families is morally wrong. While they are heterosexual themselves they do not want to be subject to certain material and views and this is accepted by society. People tend to respect others beliefs and morals on this basis but when it comes to homosexuality the tables are often turned. Some will say this is like comparing apples to oranges since homosexuals are often demeaned but I disagree. That's a separate argument. No one should be forced to accept any sexually related propaganda regardless of their beliefs or own sexual orientation.

On this point, I disagree heartily. You walk down the grocery store aisles and you will see magazines discussing various celebrities sex lives, what 10 sexual moves every man wishes his woman knew, etc. I work a lot with women in the Mennonite community and others of a very conservative background and dress accordingly. However, everywhere I go I see girls (under 16 many of them) wearing shorts and "skirts" so short I could perform a pelvic exam on them when they bend over to pick out something off the bottom shelf. Walking down the street you'll see couples doing everything from holding hands all the way up to full scale necking. The US as a nation is an over sexualized country. My daughters are thought to be weird by their scout mates because at 12 and 9 they don't have iPhones, droids, or full run of the internet.

Depending on how "propaganda" is defined in this case, this could mean everything from no public statements or displays of any form of eros love. This could be construed to include things like publicly holding hands, using pet names, showing any form of affection, and anything else all the way up to porn level things. It could mean that there's no more love stories, no more romance in TV shows, no romance novels, no personal blogs about relationships, magazines such as Cosmo and Maxim are now an issue.... Pretend for just a moment, that instead of this law being about a group that you do not belong in, that instead it is about YOU and YOUR life and YOUR relationships and the people YOU love.... Now imagine not being ALLOWED to show them that you love them at anytime, but in the privacy of your own home. Laws like this one were what Hitler used to start persecuting the Jews. Laws like this one have been used in every major genocide in the world's history...
