I bought this brand of whey today. What do you guys think about it. I've heard it's not as good as the rest & others say protein is protein. Please take a look. It's 15$ at walmart for 2 lbs so you can't beat the price.

Poor sources. This will make you fat. I wouldn't use it, especially if cutting.

Just because you're at a calorie deficit doesnt mean your progress wont be affected. You have to mind your macro-nutrients. The last thing you want when cutting is milk or any lactose. Carbs from fructose and maltodextrin can hinder your progress.

Try something like this by inTek that you would drink with water, almond milk or egg whites...

I can't remember the exact percentage, but there was a thread months ago about an independent lab test of many protein powders and how they ranked as far as claimed protein content and actual content results. Body fortress only had around 40% of the claimed protein content.

If you on a tight budget, go to Costco get some oatmeal you get two big bags, and get liquid egg whites. Mix add some fruit if you want to change taste.

I took body fortress for a while when I was disgusted at how much I spend on my truenutrition protein and everything else. Then I saw this and started back on truenutrition lol.

I see these "what's the best protein" threads all the time.
It's pretty easy to figure out the best value, and the most protein per dollar for whatever you want to use.

To find the amount of protein in a product:
Take the amount of protein (grams)in one serving and divide it by the serving size (in grams).
This is the percentage of protein in the product. The rest is filler (sweetener, flavoring and other crap).

    To find the best VALUE:
Multiply the number of servings in the container by the grams in each serving. This gives you the total amount of product
Then take the total cost of the product, and divide it by the total amount of product.
This gives you the dollar per gram (or ounce, whatever)

Using these, one can figure out the most efficient way to stock up on expensive protein for their goals.
One can also use these to figure out the "Protein Efficiency" of milk, Cottage cheese, egg white products, etc.
Using the formula, it's pretty easy to figure out that any protein powder you get is less expensive than "real" protein (eggs, meat, cottage cheese, etc.) BUT ya GOTTA have REAL protein! remember, powders are called a SUPPLEMENT for a reason.

Here are two protein powders I've figured out as tough to beat using the above formulas

Species Nutrition Isolyze has the most protein/least amount of filler per serving, and I LOVE the taste.
10 LB. Dymatize Elite is the best VALUE (dollar per gram of protein) of any I've found based on what I pay for it. Not sure I can post where and how much here though.

^^^That seems like it should work well assuming the nutritional info provided by the manufacturer is accurate which in many cases it isn't. Whether the protein reps at bbdotcom deny it if not.

Unfortunately protein powder is like most other products in that you get what you pay for.

Sure I can beat that! Dymatyze - $85 for 10 pounds. Using the math above it's simple to figure out which is a better value and has more protein.

I'm surprised people don't sell fake supplements on Ebay. It wouldn't be that difficult to get some cheap powder and put it in a container that looked like Gold Standard. Then you can just sell it cheap on ebay or amazon.com and make profit.

I did in post #17. You'll find many brands that are a better value than O.N.
As far as where I get Dymatize, All Star Nutrition dot com. $85 shipped, and it's often on sale for less than that.

I'd use it if it was free. I am still drinking this funky ass Muscle Milk since I had a 3 year's supply. But, it is shit. . . .Pure whey or another pure protein is the only way to go. Not this Syntha Six Ronnie Coleman endorsed crap.

It's just sugar and other milk derivatives which give the powder more fat and calories.

I sold off the like 10 Tubs of Syntha just because it made me bloated and my gas smelled just like the Syntha powder.

If you already have it, use it. . . You'll be fine, just minimize it. It is food substitute crap, yet there is worse. The Syntha has even worse numbers than the Fortress shit.

But I will say that by looking @ it, you have 6 grams of filler for a 28 gram serving. That's... Mediocre. For that price you can do better.

Exactly. Just account for it in your macros. I started doing the math because the stuff is pretty expensive in the quantities we use it. Plus, if you start getting particular about your diet, it helps not to have a bunch of fillers and carbs, etc.
