What does everyone think about N Korea having nuclear capable rockets?

It's been more or less confirmed. The north has tested and launched a nuclear capable rocket that left the atmosphere and could reenter in N America.

How North Korea Tipped Its Hand

I think they're still a ways away from putting it all together to hit the US, but it's coming soon. Guess we'll see, since they aren't supposed to test rockets or nukes at all.

Today is their 'great leader's' birthday, so they expect a launch today of a missile or two. Guess we'll see, but I expect some measure of retaliation if they do.

They are still years away from being able to field a nuclear warhead. Just because they can make an atomic explosion doesn't mean they can miniaturize the device and top a missile with it yet. Also, just because they can launch a missile, doesn't mean they can hit anything with it accurately.

    oh?

did you not read the article?

"....But that launch also led many U.S. intelligence analysts to assess that Pyongyang possessed the ability to miniaturize the components necessary to yield a nuclear explosion for a crude warhead that would sit atop a ballistic missile"

It's a far more worrying prospect for S.Korea or Japan right now to be honest.

A lot of people will bark about how China turns a blind eye to N. Korea and the reality is, they're sick of N. Korea as well. But they dont want the millions of refugee's that will flood their country as a result of the place being attacked by a neighbouring country.

    Agree.

China no longer needs an insulating barrier (N. Korea) that seperates China from S Korea/USA on the penninsula. In fact, I believe we (USA) are China's biggest trading partner, and they are going to protect that relationship.

There will never be an aggressive nuclear strike from a major power in the world ever again, because the global economy just cant handle it now. Everyone is trading with everyone. I think N. Korea are making a grave error with this rhetoric of theirs and it will get to the point where they will be forced to either adapt to a normal way of life or abandon their nuclear programme.

A couple years ago I was with the idea of Iran being allowed to build a nuclear programme for their economy, but all the while people like Armour Dinner Jacket are in charge, I just dont think it can be allowed.

What might be worse is if the first missile DOESN'T work. Then he'll probably get pissed off that everyone is laughing at them and are a joke and come back with a vengance and do even more damage.

His people starve for food and medicine while he spends millions on nuclear development, then runs low on money and tries to hold the world hostage to his demands of free money and food for his regime. FVCK HIM and the horse that rode his sorry azz in to town! Wow so much for my left leaning philosophies...lol

There is a far greater probability that the tensions in Kashmir will flash over and that Pakistan and India will have a nuclear exchange over the disputed region.

You are looking at this from a logical view point and there are still a couple people/leaders out there that logic has nothing to do with their regime, North Korea being one of them. It's a power trip to them/him and if he cared about trade and economy he would not be doing what he is to his people.

There are also those who believe that THEY are the only ones who count and it's best to wipe out all infidels at any cost just to cleanse the earth.

Then there are those a little closer to home who do not necessarily disagree with the communist/socialist ways and would like only 2 classes of people. 99% poor working and 1% elite.
