talked with the clinical trial woman

So, i never returned their call last week, and they just called me again. She told me that the trial was indeed for androxal, and that there was no placebo group. She said they deal with people whose test levels are below 300..so im not sure if ill qualify.
She also told me that the dose i'd be getting would be from 12.5-25 mg per day..and thart the trial was 9 months i think?

I would do 12 in person visits.

It is run by urologists.

She said the animal subjects got cataracts so i'd need before and after eye exams. she told me the animals got a higher dose.....but this worries me.

she also told me i'd be getting before and after bone scans....idk if this is because the drug helps or hurts bone mass.

on the emso boards that scally character(who i dont like) claims this drug will never be approved by fda..so idk what to do.


i hope my endo orders me the tests this friday..i need a pit mri and updated labs.

Not sure man, I know when I was growing up we had no money and my folks signed me up for a Asthma med trial lol and I am still here but kinda pissed they did it. I would not do it if it was me to be honest, 1600 is not that big of a deal if you get screwed up down the road but again who knows. Me I would say no but I am sure someone will do it.

I've had a look around and I can see they are recruiting for some phase 3 trials (and found speculation that they will apply for FDA approval next year - they may be planning that, but hard to know for sure).

Anyway, one of the studies is investigating effects of androxal on bone mineral density, and they are excluding people who have had spinal fractures. I would guess from this that there is some concern whether androxal diminishes bone density. But ALL of the trials have placebo arms (most decent phase 3 trials would). The bone density trial is 12 months long. There is one trial that I couldn't find the length of that looked like it was for men with testosterone under 300 that was investigating the normalization of morning testosterone levels. It might be the one you are being recruited for, but then it will be randomizing androxal and placebo to participants.

In order to give you more info, like GGR, I would wonder why you are contemplating this. There are other safe and long-used ways of increasing your morning testosterone. Is it for the cash?

Hi guys. The reason I'm trying this, is because my test has always been low for my age, but not low enough for most drs to treat. I have had the majority of my t levels in about the 470 range from ages 19-20, with my peak at about 20-21 being 535, and my lowest at 19 being 277. I also feel like shit a lot.

Clomid therapy interests me, but I dont like what I hear about the sides so wanted to try androxal since it's supposed to be an improved clomid.

The cash is a bonus as im unemployed now..but my health is of utmost importance. I'm not going to do the study...if androxal works ill just find a doc to prescribe it for me next year.

I saw that she said there were no placebos, that's why I made it a point to mention that every study I could find that had not already been completed had placebos. Either this study is not registered, or I just didn't find it (it's not on their website with the others) or the person advising you is wrong, etc.

Every other later study that I saw used both doses of androxal, but used them in a titrated way: everyone started at 12.5 mg, and if at a certain point the participants' testosterone levels were beneath a certain value (I saw 450 most commonly) then they would start being given the 25 mg dose, if it was above the value, they stayed at the lower dose.

Perhaps this is a study intending to compare the two dosages for differences in bone mineral density, and that's the reason there is no placebo.

If you google androxal bone mineral density (or cataracts) you will find a lot of info on past and present studies. I couldn't find any data on the impact on bone density, but as I said noticed they were excluding prior spinal fractures

Perhaps there is the possibility to do some research on more sympathetic docs in your area who are known to treat symptomatic low T even if the bloods are low normal. I know that being unemployed is not the best time to find a new doc and do a battery of tests, but maybe you can get some safe relief that way.
