Hey everyone. Im not sure where to begin here. Im a 27 yr old male, currently live in PA.
I have been thinking about getting tested for t levels for a couple years now, but I kept putting it off. I just made an appointment to see a dr and gonna see what comes of it.
Basically, I am having these issues:
-hard to build muscle and basically can get fat very quickly
-fatigue (not everyday though)
-weak erecti0ns
-low sex drive (for instance, I was with a girl a few hours ago, and I had little desire to even ejaculate
-zero morning erections for the past 5 months
-little desire to "get things done" if that means much at all. Like Im just going with the flow, I have little desire to do anything.
I remember when I was 15 or so, I was put on synthroid I believe, for hypothyroidism (if I recall correctly, pretty sure this was it). I took the synthroid for a little while, then quit, and havent been on any prescriptions since then.
I lift 5 days a week (new body part), and I do cardio. I take protein, fish oil, magnesium, lutein, and arginine. I never have smoked, never done illegal substances, rarely drink.
I pretty have it already made up in my mind that I have some type of issue here, I just need to know what to do.
A few questions:
Would you think a female dr would be as good as a male when dealing with these male-type issues? Im going to a totally new dr.
Is there anything special I need to say in order to get the right blood tests? For instance, blood work for my thyroid...will they automatically test for all the different necessary levels? And for T levels, will they test for the free t and everything else, or do I have to ask for certain items to be tested?
Should I ask for any other specific blood work or any other tests that I dont know about?
Thanks a lot for your time, I hope to get everything resolved soon.
