Is it still sensible to be taking a preworkout drink when trying to also lose weight? some days the pre workout brew helps especially when your feeling lazy or not much energy. How much would it affect weight loss?

question is far too broad, Newguy. Depends on what your pre workout drink consists of. If you're dieting to lose weight the right way, I assume that you know your daily energy expenditure and you're in a caloric deficit based on that number. If so, then all you need to do is make sure that your drink is accounted for as part of your daily caloric and macronutrient intake.
If what I just said makes sense, great. If I confused the heck out of you, forget supplements for now. You need the nutrition section to teach you how to lose weight.
