Burning with Sub-Q injections. What could it be?

I've switched to Sub Q injections for my TRT and it's so much easier. I don't know that I would go back to IM for the ease of everything. However, everytime I inject the site burns really bad for quite some time. It's almost instant and sometimes burns even when I'm injecting. I don't think it's from the alcohol wipe because I let it dry for a minute or so before injecting. Could it be the type of carrier oil that's causing this?

I'm injecting .5cc of Test C Sub Q twice per week. I use a 19 guage to draw and an insulin tip to inject.

It stings when I inject subQ HCG and the couple of times that I administered T via the subQ route it also stung and I bruised. I still inject HCG subQ (with an insulin needle) and accept the mild stinging. I have gone back to IM (using my thighs as reaching to my glutes or deltoid is awkward) for T using a 27 gauge needle and it's asymptomatic.

I wouldn't worry unless welts or blisters or redness and swelling occurs. Having said that, the stinging should only be mild and transitory. If your stinging is more than that you might be sensitive to the oil base and you should talk to your doc. A true allergic response would occur whether you inject subQ or IM. I concur, it's not the alcohol wipes that causes the stinging.

Where are you injecting?

I'm injecting .5ml Test C in Sesame oil. HCG doesn't cause this same problem. It lasts about 30 minutes or so and then it's gone.

I find that the "burning" - or whatever you may call it - occurs when I inject too rapidly. When I started taking my time - like - 30+ seconds - it stopped. If you are toned with not too much fat, I'd recommend you not so much pinch, but lift the skin in that area before you inject. I find that injecting into a pinch hurts most of the time.

Exactly. Sub-Q you have to inject very slow or it burns. I slowly inject .5mg, count to 5 then inject another .5mg, repeating till all .25mg has been injected. Takes me a good 30 sec or longer to inject.

I inject HCG slower as well, but not nearly as slow as test. HCG takes a good 5 sec to inject .16ml (400iu).

^^^ That and make sure you're perpendicular on the injection. That happened to me once also.

I'm in my third year of 50mg sub Q injects [ 3x 50mg/ week] draw and inject with a 29 gauge and have never experienced a burning sensation. very occasionally have had a " stinging" feeling and because I'm a wuse just moved over a 1/2 inch and then no problem. mostly sesame oil, never pinch and inject into upper medial glutes. maybe experiment with that location?
