    Mission Carb Balance wraps.

Would you count the carb calories of these wraps if the net carbs is 6g while the rest of the 22 grams are dietary fiber?

I'm on a Carb cycle diet and I dont' want to take more carbs on my low days. My cycle is 150g, zero, 50, 150, 50, 100, Cheat day.

    The wraps are:

    Calories 200

    Calories from Fat 41

    Total Fat 4.5g 7%

    Saturated Fat 1g 5%

    Sodium 560mg 23%

    Carbohydrates 31g 10%

    Dietary Fiber 21g 84%

    Protein 8g

Fiber is indigestable to the human body so I would think that having 21g of fiber would probably burn off the 6g net carbs in the process... am i wrong? If I'm not then can't these tortillas be eaten everyday with literally no worries about carbs, even if you were in Keto dieting?

Fiber has a calorie content of around 2-2.5cals/gram bc the body will digest some of it. Regardless, count everything you take in and adjust as necessary.

but if it not digestible how can it be processed into calories lol... ?

actually I have the wrong info...

    1 Tortilla: Calories:

    240, from fat 45
    Total Fat:
    5g Saturated: 2.5g Trans: 0g Polyunsaturated: 2g Monounsaturated: .5g Cholesterol: 0g Sodium: 510mg
    Total Carbohydrate: 32g
    Dietary Fiber: 26g
    Sugars: 1g
    Protein: 9g
    Calcium: 10%
    Iron: 4%

and on the bag it says 6 net carbs, so the only carbs i should be digesting is 6 grams....

I do not count my Fiber carbs at this time as they all come from Peppers, Onions, Cucumbers, and Tomatoes. Should I notice a huge change in my body physique I might change that.

Unfortunately that's some BS that Atkins wants you to believe. It really doesn't matter which way you do it so long as you do it the same everyday and are consistent. Whether you absorb the fiber calories or not, you actually do absorb some of the cals from fiber, is irrelevant if you're consistently tracking it he same way. Those 26g of fiber come out to about 60cals. If you're not getting closer to your goals you adjust your diet whether you're counting those cals or not.

Must admit I have not tried to see if I enter Ketosis by being below 60g/Net Carbs per day. Must try this immediately.

Although it might not be processed by the body immediately like a typical carb, the bacteria in your colon does feed on some fiber, and it ferments in your large intestine. Bottom line though you end up with some calories from the fiber. The time it takes and the end result of what you do absorb I couldn't really say the full effect, but I wouldn't expect any insulin spikes.... I've seen some charts, not sure where they are, about the time it takes for some things to ferment, but I bet you could do some research and find more info.

I count total g carbs and also track grams of fiber carbs. My personal goal is to consume a min of 18 gram of fiber carbs per day. At 4 cal per gram, it's minimal in the big picture.
