The protocol I always use is:
    Weeks:
    1: 5mg
    2: 5mg
    3: 5mg
    4-8: 2mg

Yes of course it is. I'm not sure where the point of diminishing returns is but 5mg is significantly better than 2mg, so 3mg is going to be quite a lot better.

It also depends on your injury and the time it needs to heal (meaning lengthening the time of use could be beneficial, or using more quicker could be beneficial).

Depending on where you're getting it from i'd say just spend the extra money and use 5mg for 3-4 weeks then 2mg from then on.

I did 5mg for 2 weeks then 2mg for 2 weeks then 1 mg for the past 4 weeks and it's worked great for patella tendinitis which needed some rapid reduction in inflammation then some time to recover as well as rotator cuff problems that need time.

PS. I'm no expert and i do realize the above post makes it look like i think i am.

I see people like the 4 or 5mg for a few weeks then just stick to 2mg ew after that. That's what I would try.

Check my log, I ran 5mg every 3days for the first few weeks, then 5mg per week. Total duration was 10-12 weeks (it's been a while).
An ongoing issue has never come back.
