    Spent 2 days in hospital.

Hey guys, just to share with you. I spent Christmas and Friday in hospital due to a racing heart beat. Not sure what it was, doctors ran all kind of testing cad scans, mri's, blood work, etc... And couldn't find anything. I ate quite a bit as expected you know, Christmas dinner, cookies and what not, also took my usual supplements and went to work out, right after my first set i felt my heart racing, didn't feel right, i hooked up heart rate monitor also checked my pulse and it was at 209 bpm. No pain or discomfort, just scared the crap out of me. Wife called the ambulance and the highly suggested that I go to er, so I did.

Anyway, I'm home now but my heart is still acting up, pvc's. I was told to stay away from caffeine and sugars for a while. any of you experienced a similar thing?

Hey Bass, glad you're OK. What's your Cialis intake like? Minus the racing heart, I've experienced chest pains etc. from >20 mgs per day over a prolonged period. Had to cut back on it, thought I was having a heart attack while on vacation this past summer lols...

How's your Hemoglobin/Hematocrit level? Did you take a pre-workout supplement?

    no Cialis, but these supplements,

    NAC, 600-1200 mg ed
    Chromium Picolinate, 200 mcg ed
Bifido GI Balance, 25 mg ed
    Taurine, 1000 mg ed
    Zinc, 30 mg ed
    L-Arginine, 700 mg twice ed
BCAA, once a day prior or during workout

no chest pains, just fast heart beat. my mom used to get them all the time after she consumed few cups of coffee, which reminds me I drank about 4 cups of tea and about 20 oz coke that day, along with few sugary cookies which is unusual for my diet.

Smart going to the hospital! Glad you're ok!

I was diagnosed with High BP a year and a half ago. I take lisinopril.

Too much caffeine gets my heart racing.

one of the doctors said that my magnesium was low, he said that could make your heart act up. I did noticed my eye lid twitching few days prior, so maybe that has something to do with it. I can guarantee you it wasn't low sugar

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Bass. The taurine struck a note with me because I seem to be a tad sensitive to it, although my heart is somewhat craptacular. Anyway, I know we're not rats, but I did run across this.

Taurine regulation of blood pressure and vasoactivity. - PubMed - NCBI

The increase in blood pressure was observed however only in females; males supplemented with taurine did not show an increase in systolic, diastolic, or mean arterial pressure. In both genders however, taurine supplementation caused a significant tachycardia.

...lol, and I'm not anti-supplement by any means, just wanted to post up the link for you. Kind of weird how the acute dosing in water vs. the chronic dosing via injection caused a different reaction.
Please post up any updates or info you can share and I hope you continue to feel better.

It sounds like you and PistalPete had a lousy Christmas holiday.

Did you take more BCAA than usual? Are any of the supplements you are taking a new bottle? Since they are not regulated something could be stronger than normal.
BCAA cranks me up a bit.

One time my heat rate was up to 190/104 was due to the wife. lol

Glad to hear you are doing better.

    200+ is pretty high.

not capping, but why the ambulance?

I would have just had my woman drive me.

oh, never mind. your WIFE called the ambulance. She drove you to ER

    got it now....

good luck mate. let us know how it goes.

If you arrive at the ER via ambulance you're brought right into the ER. If you walk in, you may have to wait with the illegals, oops sorry, I mean "Immigrants." However, if you declare chest pains you will get a ticket right-in...

I had a somewhat similar experience when I thought I could start up my aerobic walks right where I left off months before. On the third day, it was hot, but even more humid, and a block from my house I was lying on the sidewalk and couldn't get up in a huge puddle of sweat. The EMT trainee tech thought his machine was broken when he checked my heart rate.
Heart Disease is the number one killer of men in their fifties, I think, so they gave me every expensive test they could to check out my old ticker, they wanted me to get on the treadmill the next morning to test my heart under stress, and I made them give me a shot of something instead, because I didn't want to possibly experience that episode again, it is not scary, .....it is terrifying!!!!!! When I got home I erased all the porn off my computer.
I have a hiatal hernia that acts up with too much stress or coffee, so the doctor gives me the EKG every six months. If I have chest pains, I'm pretty confident it's my stomach and not my heart.

Isnt it funny what we think of, what we do when we think we might die or something happen so no one will find it after you are gone or if it gets checked for some reason.

Every time Ive done this in the past I regretted it later because I had to start my collection over. Now I just keep it on an encrypted drive. lol

    Sorry for the thread hijack.

If it was for a stress echocardiogram, it may have been dobutamine.

LOL why the ambulance?! well it was the first for me my heart going over 200, it scared the crap out of me. still I am feeling tightness and lots of misfiring (PVC's) I believe it is somewhat related to my stomach, I noticed every time I get PVC my stomach growls! or I can almost feel it coming them boom it happens.

    Wow,

    Read the whole thread

    How old r u bro?

No other uppers? Just kinda close to home for myself ya know. . . I take a ton of uppers every day(nothing crazy, just a ton of caffeine & Ephedrin).

I have never had anything like this - but, I have had heart pains of some sort. Yet, all BW is perfect and BB is not way out of range(highest is 150/80).

Thanks man. Don't know what you mean about uppers, but everything I take i listed. One of my bw showed low magnesium, doc prescribed some type of magnesium but that made it worse, so read allot about magnesium and it's talked about like other supplements, basically it's the mother of all supplements hype!

I came across a YouTube video of a lady having the same issues I have, she was told by her doctors the same thing i was tol, she tried magnesium and didn't work, then she tried Epson Salt bath and that was the cure for her irregular heart beat. I tried it and i was much more calm today, even bp was better than normal.

More weird is I'm not the only one, millions suffer from this, and doctors don't know what it is. Thankfully it still falls under "normal" seeing my doc next week. Will keep you updated.

This happened to me a few years ago, around the same time of the year. I was diagnosed as a "panic/anxiety attack" Never had it since and still no reason for it happening. The brain works in mysterious ways. Over dose Red Bull energy drinks can cause racing heart and Taurine is one of the factors.

Thanks for sharing your experience Micky. Glad to hear it hasn't happened again.
