    Ventrogluteal Hip

    Good Afternoon

Have any of you used a 1-inch needle in this area? In the past I have used 1-inch but reading up on it again most peeps have said 1.5.

I pretty much had no pip in this area and wanna try it again. My quads are not handling it well this time around. Not sure if I have got stupid or just need to try areas that aren't sensitive.

Some people prefer it because it is not close to any major nerves, especially the sciatic. I never use it on myself or anyone else anyway, I just don't have an issue missing the nerve myself. I have also read you don't have to aspirate in that spot either but I err on the side of caution and always aspirate in every location.

I have used this site for a while. Relatively painless, few nerves, few blood vessels and easy access. I use a 1.5 inch needle and I insert on a slight angle just to make sure the gear is deep in the muscle. Always aspirate, nothing to lose.
