Insulin expires once started or will it be fine until expirey date?

Insulin pen (humalog) has an expirey date on it saying 03/16 does this mean it will be good to use until then even if I started using it about a year back? Has been kept in the fridge if that makes any difference?

cheers mate, will do used it for a little while before and did see the full benefit however im going to be unsing it for the next month just 3/4 times a week, like i said it was getting used but been in the fridge last year almost but if you say its good to go il get going. only starting at 4iu's PW go up to 8 max. also is that stuff okay if its kept at room temperature for about 6 hours a day then back in the fridge at night ?
