I'm sure..what are you wondering . I never cycled but depending on wht you are going for it's all about the diet and ....sure if you want strength and power 5reps to failure is good. I do nothing but power reps 6-8

songdog, did you see good growth from 5x5 routine? Did you do 5x5 for all body parts?

Just started back on the 5x5 routine this week. Was on it for for over year before a 72hr work schedule put a halt to my workout routine. Made really good gains .

I did very well with it I put more strength than size I was cutting at the time but my legs grew. The 5x5 I read you will pack on mass if you are lacking but it will trim you down if you need it.I forgot where I read this.

I have, really good results. Strength and size came from it. Like anything else it needs to be switched up after a while

I don't like doing anything under five reps because it's not enough time under pressure for the muscle I don't think sure I'll do a few three rep max sets but I don't like to go below five is still heavy and decent volume and time under pressure

Not set in stone but this is roughly what i use.

    Dumbbells/barbells/plates in the 6-10 range
    Cables in the 12-15 range

The compound movements are usually done in the 5x5 ranges, then any accessory is optional and dependant upon goals, a good routine to transition to after the 5x5 is the 5/3/1 program

5x5 or 5/3/1 are both solid options. If cycling, maybe increase the accessory work a little if growth is the primary goal.
