10 Secretaries of Defense or Trump?

    Well...
It was nice while the political bullshit was left off this forum for a while.

But it has reared its ugly head back up again.

So in case you missed it.

Yesterday Trump decided to threaten the GA Secretary of State into overturning GA's election result.
    He failed.
I am sure you heard it.
    It's on tape and all.

    Anyway...
Some Patriotic Americans have finally had enough.

All 10 living former defense secretaries declare election is over in forceful public letter

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/03/polit...ter/index.html

All 10 living former US defense secretaries declared that the US presidential election is over in a forceful public letter published in The Washington Post on Sunday as President Donald Trump continues to deny his election loss to Joe Biden.

The letter -- signed by Dick Cheney, James Mattis, Mark Esper, Leon Panetta, Donald Rumsfeld, William Cohen, Chuck Hagel, Robert Gates, William Perry and Ashton Carter -- amounts to a remarkable show of force against Trump's subversion efforts just days before Congress is set to count Electoral College votes.
"Our elections have occurred. Recounts and audits have been conducted. Appropriate challenges have been addressed by the courts. Governors have certified the results. And the electoral college has voted. The time for questioning the results has passed; the time for the formal counting of the electoral college votes, as prescribed in the Constitution and statute, has arrived," the group wrote.
Since Election Day, Trump has falsely claimed that a second term is being stolen, even as there have been no credible allegations of widespread voting issues as affirmed by dozens of judges, governors, and election officials, the Electoral College, the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the US Supreme Court.
Still, a wide swath of congressional Republicans are siding with the President and plan to object to Biden's win during Electoral College counting on Wednesday -- even though their efforts will only delay the inevitable affirmation of Biden's win.
The former Defense secretaries, who collectively represent decades of tenure in the position, wrote that presidential transitions "are a crucial part of the successful transfer of power."
"They often occur at times of international uncertainty about U.S. national security policy and posture. They can be a moment when the nation is vulnerable to actions by adversaries seeking to take advantage of the situation."
The letter follows Trump's removal of Esper in November as part of a set of sweeping changes atop the Defense Department's civilian leadership structure that included the installation of perceived loyalists to the President.
The shakeup put officials inside the Pentagon on edge and fueled a growing sense of alarm among military and civilian officials.
And while America's top military officer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, told Congress in August that the military won't help settle any election disputes, the group of former Defense secretaries reiterated in their letter that such an effort "would take us into dangerous, unlawful and unconstitutional territory."
"Civilian and military officials who direct or carry out such measures would be accountable, including potentially facing criminal penalties, for the grave consequences of their actions on our republic," the letter states.
Cohen, a Republican who served as Secretary of Defense under President Bill Clinton, told CNN's Ana Cabrera on "Newsroom" shortly after the letter was published that the "highly unusual" step was warranted given the "unconstitutional path" Trump has taken the country.
"It was really our attempt to call out to the American people. We believe all of them are patriotic. They've been led down a path by President Trump, which is an unconstitutional path. And so we felt it was incumbent on us as having served in the Defense Department to say: Please all of you in the Defense Department, you've taken an oath to serve this country, this Constitution, not any given individual," he said.
Perry, a Democrat who also served as secretary of defense under Clinton, said in a tweet Sunday evening that the idea for the statement came from Cheney, a Republican who was secretary of defense under President George H.W. Bush before becoming vice president to President George W. Bush.
"Each of us swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution; that oath does not change according to party designation," Perry said.
The former Defense secretaries ended their letter urging the Defense Department to "refrain from any political actions" that could undermine the election results or harm the transition to a new administration.
"We call upon them, in the strongest terms, to do as so many generations of Americans have done before them," the letter states.
"This final action is in keeping with the highest traditions and professionalism of the U.S. armed forces, and the history of democratic transition in our great country."

So I ask you fellow Americans...
Do you trust the military that has lived and died for our freedom?
    Or...
Do you still worship Sgt. Foot Spurs?

The supposed Law and Order party has lost 60 court cases.
The DHS, the FBI, the Attorney General, and the CIA have all claimed the election was fair.
In GA alone the vote was counted 3 times and there was a signature match in Cobb county that proved to be 99.9% accurate.
    And yet the bullshit continues.

Are you fine with Trump attempting a coup?

Is there any point at which you will accept you've lost the election?

It is so sickening that the party that screams about the Constitution at every turn is lead by a fascist so willing to wipe his ass with it simply because he lost.

DD, the bs will never end here or anywhere else anytime soon imo. So much hatred & distrust has been stirred up, that I can only pray that Biden has more than a snowball’s chance in hell to succeed.

My personal fear is that Trump is not going away in the slightest & is going to be chipping away at America’s faith & trust till the next election. How many million dollars has he already raised that will go to this on-going campaign of hate & fear? Thus, 4 more years of this.

I still can’t believe people are dumb enough to believe anything that clown has to say. What a scumbag piece of shit we have for a president. All the scumbag liars of America have a great icon now. See, if you lie, cheat, steal, and deflect, you too can become a president! Disgraceful. Can you imagine if any other democratic president tried pulling what this asshole is trying to do? The guy saying the election was stolen is literally trying to steal the election. The guy who cried fake news is the #1 source of fake news. It’s unbelievable. The hypocrisy is unreal.

If you think it looks like a circus from within, try to imagine how it appears to us Europeans across the Atlantic Ocean looking in from the outside.

Here in Europe we occasionally have an eccentric politician, however it's nowhere near the level of entertainment that Americans get from their politicians.

It's time Trump had a stroke. Blink once for yes, twice for no.

I have 3 citizenships but was born in Eastern Europe. I definitely understand how crazy we look to the outside world. Yet, we have members on here who seem fairly intelligent that see no problem with Trump and the way things are going. It boggles my mind. I'll never understand it. *Blink*

There's no threat there. Now they're threatening impeachment again over a phone call. Damn, if Biden's witholding money to Ukraine (on video) isn't a threat then nothing is. Or Pelosi for that matter admitting that she witheld a stimulus package because it could possible aid Trump? It's disgusting all around and on both sides of the aisle. Politics is horrible anymore.

When it comes to the Sec Def's letter I've got nothing but respect for them and they're entitled to their opinion. But that's all it is, their opinion. The current president, any president, is entitled to his opinion as well. There's zero indication or worries about a coup and ridiculous to think so. Speaking of opinions, remember not so long ago when all the headlines were "50 former intelligence officials" warn the Hunter Biden laptop story sounds like Russian disinformation. All 50 were wrong. Shit happens.

You know, I thought I was responding to beet or I may have been nicer. I'm closed-minded about a lot of things, such as rape, pedophilia, incest, racism, corruption, liars, demagogues, bigots, snobs, and even some other things that describe Trump. He just has a lot of qualities I dislike as a human being. I don't have a problem with conservatism other than that it doesn't really work, and history has shown it not to work very well. I have a problem with narcissist liars who spread lies and destroy the democratic process. That makes me a good person. You just like shooting guns and hate immigrants. Whose the douchebag?

You didn't get my point. I'm close minded towards bad things. I'm open minded to sound, reasonable ideas. I'm not open minded to the corruption of democracy, which is what Trump has been doing from day 1. He literally said he wouldn't accept the election results if he lost, and he's kept his word. You support that. That's anti-American... Do you really need an immigrant to tell you this??? You may be a reasonable person in other facets of your life, but in political affairs you seem to lack judgement otherwise you wouldn't be able to turn a blind eye to all of his misdeeds.

If you sign up to the website 'Cameo', I'll pay $40 for you to sit on your porch in a rocking chair wearing your denim dungarees with a shotgun resting across your lap, chewing a long piece of grass, telling me what I quoted above.

Even better if your wife can walk out afterward and say 'Clancy get off dem internets with dem videos'.

I like shooting guns too, and actually at the moment I've got two Desert Eagles coming to me in the post, but I'm very dissimilar to Mooseman other than that.

I have a close friend who is an habitual liar but I don't hold it against him. Life is life, some people just add seasoning.

Trump is in serious need of some sort of spiritual awakening. It won't be easy to reverse 70 years of pride, but if Ted Bundy can accept Jesus in his last days then Trump has hope.

To all involved. Simply be respectful to the other members please. You don't have to agree or even like them, but please be decent about it. All here are intelligent enough to get their point across without name calling.
