TRT + AI + HCG dosing sanity check

Hi All,

First post here.

I'm a 57 year old male 6', 185lbs.

I'm injecting Test Cyp at 200ml/week - 100 Thursday, and 100 Sunday. Been on it 3 years. I also take Anastrazole 1mg Wednesday, and 1mg Saturday each week.

I learned about hcg for testicle health and requested a prescription from my PCP, but got referred to a Urologist because she had never heard of it before - So went to the Urologist, who was brand new and never heard of hcg before either (for this purpose).

So, he checked with a more experienced Dr in his practice and they called in a prescription for Pregnyl to be used 3x per week at 1,500iu each time (4,500 total per week).

From all my reading, that seems like a lot of hcg. Does it make sense?

I'm looking for a sanity check on this protocol specifically.

This protocol needs work.

That is waayyyyyyyy too much arimidex, even on cycle, much less TRT. You should try to get that 0mg of AI. If you REALLY, need that much AI, you need to lower your testosterone dose.

At most, think one half mg of adex per week, preferably in quarter mg doses 2x per week.

You are correct on the HCG, that is way too much for ride along on TRT. Most men do between 500 and 750iu per week, in 2 to 3 250iu doses.

Post up your blood work if you have it for the best responses.

A little more info - I was using Testim 1% 50 mg/day for the first 2.5 years of the 3 that I've been on TRT. During that time I started with 1mg Anastrazole, but my estrogen was still too high, so I went to 1mg twice a week and it came down to a low level. I also supplement with 6mg of boron daily, and I understand that in some people it can raise estrogen a lot - so I suspect it was related to that, but I can't be sure. I believe the boron also increased my free test.


6 months ago I switched to IM injected Test Cyp at 100mg per week in one shot (Thursdays) - in September 2023 my Estrogen was 74 pg/mL, total test was 772 NG/dL, my free test was 94.9 pg/mL, and my SHBG was 46 nmol/L.

1 month ago I upped it to 200mg (100mg twice per week - Thursday & Sunday). I haven't retested since then.

Last thing to note is that all along I've supplemented with DHEA 50mg per day in the morning.

Are there other blood test numbers that are relevant?

Your numbers looked good at 100mg. Why did you move to 200?

It sounds Iike, but I can't tell for sure, that you started the AI preemptively. That's not a good plan. Go by feel and symptoms instead.

Blood tests should include:
Total and free testosterone
Estradiol sensitive
DHT
SHBG (once a year or so)
Thyroid panel
CBC
Lipids

There might be a few more I'm forgetting, but that will be a good starting point.

Once again, it is about feing good, which might mean your numbers are out of range. That's OK, especially if there are no negative sides.

I’m with the other Brothers on Arimidex being way to high, but more importantly than that your support staff seems to not be firing on all cylinders, I would highly suggest getting with a reputable Trt clinic, the right protocol can mean the difference between feeling good and wasting your time
