should my shins be getting bruised after dead lifts

When i deadlift i kinda drag the weight up my shin. And of course it starts to bruise and bleed sometimes. Just wondering if this is totally normal or is my technique wrong? (i havnt been doing these for long and im not sure)

    thankyou

i do the same thing bro but not to the point i bruise. I just drag that mother fucker up till i am at the top. i don't think its wrong some guys rub a lil baby powder on there legs to help the bar slide up. dont get any on the bar throw or your grip will go down the shiter
good luck with the shins.... maybe you should try some 80s style pink leg warmers lol j/k

I'd have to see your technique but there is normally nothing wrong with it. I always have bruises on the front of my shins. It means you've got the bar in groove.

that just means you are not letting the bar get infront of you which is good. mine bleed every week and look deformed from the calicum deposits on my shins

Yep, no worries with that, it usually indicates a solid techinque.

In a comp' you will see most lifters apply baby powder to the front of their legs for this reason.

I went thru a stage of cutting my shins everytime I deadlifted so on those days when I did em I wore leggins to at least let the scars heal a bit.

    Keep lifting mate!

It does that all the time! You can put some baby powder on your chins, it slides a bit easier...But be carefull, don't use the inside of your hands!

You are right but if you're competing, you don't have the chance to choose to wear shorts or not!
My hubby's chins never heal... Isn't it what we can call hardcore??

If you ain't bleeding you ain't doin' it right! Mine bleed every time I pull. but this can become quite a painful thing after awhile, my training partner came up with a pretty cool idea that worked well. Here it is: he took a plastic quart oil container and cut out two oval shapes about 6 inches long and used duct tape to secure them to his shins.it worked and gave his shins some time to heal, of course you cant use this come meet day, but it makes training a little less bloody.

Im always insanely bruised after deadlifts. Previously I tried to avoid it by keeping the bar a bit away from my body and that ****ed upp my back. Il rather have bruises then a ruptured disc in the back!

You also could try thin soccer shin guards - just a thought Bro - but pain is just fear leaving the body HAHAHAHA
