how come americans suck in the worlds strongest?

i was watching the wsm comp's today and the only american was in 10th place and then after one of the exercises he quit because of a back injury. i can understand that, but all of the other countries dominate the competition. personally i think pudzianowski is among the best. the guy is an animal.

Looking at the results of that list I think there is little to be said except "would you like a bit of salt for your foot so that it tastes better?".

And Blitz - you should know better than that

    Winning WHAT WAR'S

But seriously I've no idea why America doesn't do well in strongman competitions, but what I can say, and hopefully without causing offence to Americans is that here in Europe most American teens are seen to have had a pretty soft living. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I'm trying to give my kids the same living standards, but thats the perception alot of Europeans have of American's.

Now about these war's you keep winning, lol... (Oh yea, wrong forum!)

Well not to make an excuse but a lot of the European competitors are sponsored by their countries and don't have to earn a living. All the Americans have to work in addition to training.

But it's still ****ed up that no American has won the WSM in over 20 years.

Because we can't just go buy gear at the local drugstore like most of the world can. With all of this baseball sh*t going on, it's just going to get worse.
wuhahahaha - I think the US is the only country where 2 major sports have been untested for the last 50 years. so I call bs on this statement.

and go try to buy some steroids in Germany, Uk, France or Spain in the drug store. in Italy I wouldn t even ask, they have the same strict laws as u have and u will get bsted for buying them too.

so pls don t create such cheap excuses...

Can't comment on the UK or France but in Spain I was able to walk into any drug store and get anything I wanted.

Because our society as a whole views physical fitness and muscular development as freakish. So many people are fat and want to "skinny", not built or muscular. Look at the most popular men in movies these days....DiCarpio, Colin Ferrell, etc. It's almost like people are afraid to have muscles. Many of us that work out and put on size are seen as freaks and get the old "you must be on steroids" line. Noone realizes that it takes hard work and discipline for hypertrophy (I love that word bdtr). People are afraid of putting there backs into something. Why do you think all of these fat, out of shape politicians take any sort of anabolic substance off the market and make it illegal?

Sorry, I just read an article by Rick Collins in the Body of Science mag I got with my protein from ASN and it got me all fired up.

Most of you guys except RedMeat probably have never heard of Brian Siders, but he is probably going to switch to strongman competitions. He broke Kaz's WR total this past year in Powerlifting (I.P.F). INSANE strength. Hopefully he will do well.
