    Is there a right answer here?Diet

    Looking for the "right" answer here (if there is one) before working on my diet plans....

    6ft, 232lbs @ 17% bodyfat...

    looking to get to 220-225lbs @ 8-10% bodyfat.....

    ===========================

    Do I bulk now try to get up to 260 or so, then cut down. Hopefully keeping bodyfat @ 17% all the way up??

    or cut now down to 12% or so and try to slowly add LBM???

    I would hate to diet down now and suffer a loss of some LBM....

    ============================

    What is the "smarter" approach here?

    Honestly I think the right answere is doing what you want to do. Since its summertime its not fun to walk around at 17% and cut later on in the fall when it gets cold and shitty.

    I dont think doing one or the other will have any real impact on longterm gains so neither approach is smarter imo.

    johan is right on. also keep in mind that when you bulk its nearly impossible to put on only muscle. you will put fat on to some degree.

    I agree with Johan......seeing its summer now (and still early)...I would cut now.....and then bulk in the fall/winter.....and cut in the spring. IIMO that unless you are competing, or live somewhere tropical, its kind of pointless to cut in the fall/winter.......just my .02$ though.

    At that bodyfat percentage, CUT.

    Bulking now will add more fat, then you'll have more you have to lose, thus making it more possible to then lose even more mass when you cut.

    Think of it this way...If you are at 17% and can't actually see the LBM - how do you know you'd suffer a loss?

    Not trying to be an arse - but I was in the same predicament about three months ago and down to about 14% right now - I'm glad I did it!
