Im does great on it. She eats less and has 2 times as much energy. Also her coat and muscle tone is much better.

The down side is that it's not cheap. It's $13 for a 5.5 pound bag.

We feed a Raw diet consisting of raw meat, and bones. I add an egg twice a week, some flax every now and then. I make sure I rotate protein sources every 2 weeks. My dogs go crazy for rabbit, and beef.. It Takes some time and research, but results are out of this world. Let me know if you want some more info on feeding raw.

I looked it to the raw diet for my beagle. They do better on dog food. I will give her meat 2 times a month as per the vet. There digestive track has been altered over the years of being domesticated.

You know people who feed raw are like a cult!!!! They are always saying it's better and this and that. While I do think its better than most kibble, it really depends how the dog does on the food, weather it be raw, kibble or home cooked. Raw has been great for us, we have a french bulldog with allergies, which are now gone thanks to switching over. My other dog is a bulldogge and will be about 80 pounds, so you can imagine what are freezer looks like!!!

That is very true. And with a dog with allergies its best to stay with the raw. I also agree with use what works best for your pet. Im sure most people dont look at there dogs shit and have blood work done like we do.

Yes those are the top store brands for sure. The Nutro is top of the line food. It all most up there with the soled gold foods.

Actually that is incorrect... Royal Canin is one of the top yes, but definately not Science Diet. Nutro produces a wide variety of different foods but their top of the line dog food is the Nutro Ultra brand. However there are many "top" brand dog foods (can't think of them all atm) but I know the premiere one at my store is the Blue brand, which can get pretty expensive. As for Solid Gold, I do not know how it compares, I do know it is a good dog food though. This all comes from my experience working at petsmart for almost 2 years.

Im not sure if that would be help full for your lab with hip problems. Most of the time its for digestive reasons. I would have to think a high quality dog food for adult dogs would be better. It has all the supps that the older dogs need..

Orjen has food for older dogs as well. you can chek it out on there sight.

My dalmation needs lamb and rice formula dog food, the vet says it is a novel protein to dogs so they almost never have alergies to it. My dog might be need to be put to sleep soon though. Even though she is only 10 she has a cervical disc herniation and hasn't been walking the last two weeks without falling quite a bit. Surgery is not a good idea because she would only live another two years or so due to a slow growing liver tumor. She is on steroidal anti-inflamitories, hope she starts walking again soon, I don't want to kill her.

Sorry to hear that bro. They become part of the family and its hard to loss them.

But keep in mine even know you dont want to loss you dog. They can help them selfs so they relie on you. Even if that is to make the diction to stop there suffering.

Soldgold you can find in some pet stores. Buy chances are you wont find the Orjen unless its a high line pet store. I know it's not in the petco and petsmart's

Also, many people don't know this but you actually save money buying the higher grade stuff. Most higher grade dog food has whole foods and no fillers, making it more calorie dense. Therefore your dog does not need to eat as much of the more expensive stuff, and needs to eat a lot of the crappy stuff to "feel" full.. Thus in the long run saving you money. 100% ture. You can also see the effects in the dogs energy levels also. Dry frood are also much better for there teeth as well.

I only add 1/3 a can of wet to her dry. She likes the flaver it adds to it.

Blue also has a similar type of food (called something else and has a wolf on it) It is mainly for high energy dogs however and not your average house dog.

Orijen is a great choice GSXXR, very healthy kibbles. My two furry buddies love Canidae. They are very healthy and energetic. Sometimes people neglect feeding their pets the proper nutrition as i use too, unfortunately I learned the hard way when my first best friend passed away because of Lymphoma and til this day I believe it was from the supermarket dog foods. Please stay away from all cheap supermarket dog food, you can go to your local pet store and find the brands that are reccommended in the site above.

Like what Lawman said, the cheap supermarket foods like Dog Chow, Pedigree, or KibblesnBits are filled with corn and other cheap fillers which dogs have a hard time digesting. Many cause allergies and sickness that mount to high vet bills. Saving a few dollars on pet food at the expense of a family member is just not worth it. Dog like us need nutritionally healthy food for long life and a healthy weight maintenance. How would you feel if you were fed McDonalds and KFC everyday.

My newest mastiffs love Canidae. However, many of my other mastiffs were raised on Purina One. I never had much luck with any of the Science Diet. My dogs in the past that were on it seemed to grow too fast and put on weight too fast for their bones.
