I don't anymore, but certainly on heavy sets they can be used, though I would discourage the overuse of them, i.e. all sets, every heavy bench day. You still need to ensure you are working the connective tissues of the hands/wrists/lower forearm.
Use 'em, but don't fall in love with 'em.
I was just thinking for when I go to max out. I never had what happend today happen before and ive had the same weight on the bar.
I use them, I wrap them as tight as I can go. Ive broken my left wrist twice and it just doesnt want to hold straight with out a wrap. Lets me focus more on the benching and less on my wrists hurting too!
I like the ones with gloves built in.
i use wraps on all my heavy sets
Try to limit it but I use them for close-grip bench on every set. My wrist will be very sore if I dont.
why limit them??? use them when you need them.
use them for bench days, squat days. dont play around with some wrists, you get to thinking about them and get yourself hurt
they definately help prevent forearm pain, wrist and elbow pain as well and give you stability when the weight is in your hands
I think I definitely wanna get some for benching
I have a pair for med to heavy bench and pair for just Heavy bench. Just like Doc said why not use them if you have them. But hey, it is your choice. Just like some people doesn't wear knee wraps when they squat. I do.
Wrist wraps, yes definitely plus, especially if you've ever broke your wrist, as i have.. a lot of nagging pains that the wrist wraps help a lot... 1 question though that i'm not sure of, are they allowed in competition?
You have to look at the rules of the Federation, but the ones I've read up on allows wrist wraps and knee wraps.
i dont.... yet. but im gonna have to start
i have carpal tunnel and any pressing movement is starting to become painful
so im gonna buy some soon.
I think im gunna go on an adventure today and go check some out
johnny I have never broke anything so I have no underlying probs, but I don't use straps for much of it not anything. The only thing I can tell you is my forearms are much and I mean much larger than my buddies who are of semi comp size to me, and I wreck ass when I pull!!! That's my peace on that.
My gloves have wrist straps on them, so yes. Helps keep forearm pain down. Also on heavy sets I use elbow sleeves, although not so much while off cycle.
The sleeves work well. I got them because while I was on cycle, my elbows were suffering harshly under the heavy weight I was doing. I don't need them at the moment as I'm off cycle and not lifting the extreme heavy weight. I plan on using them again when I jump back on this Summer. They weren't expensive either. I got them at elitefts.com, I also have the knee sleeves.
something to think about thanks.
