Jamy, which one are you? Pagan? Neo-pagan? Or Wiccan?

And what's the difference between a pagan and a neo-pagan?

pagans follow an ancient, pre-christian/buddist/muslim/jewish, way of life..

neo-pagans and wiccans are one in one...

diff is, neo-pagans and wiccans tend to believe in a higher power, while ancient pagans do have a supernatural realm, they dont believe in a god or a goddess

neo-paganism started in the early 1900's while paganism has been around for thousands of years..

    im pagan

Pagans dont have god's ??!!??!! Zeus, Jupiter,Thor, Odin, Venus, Athena, etc...

Pagan is a very broad term, not a specific religion.
It includes innumerable ancient cults, from the Cults of Mithras & Dionysus to the Cult of the Roman Emperor, as well as less synchretic and more structured belief systems such as were found in Northern & Celtic parts of Europe.

Oh and I dated a girl who identified as Wiccan. She always wore celtic medallions and such. Super down to earth & loved nature and the outdoors. She was a cool girl, played video games like halo & socom and liked girls too :-D But after a year or so we got on each others nerves alot (i.e. she actually bitched about me using gear) But the Wiccan-Catholic split never caused a problem. Which given the past 2,000 years of history, I find to be F*cking REMARKABLE.

agreed.. i was being more specific towards my own way of life... there are pagans that believe in gods, im a solitary practicioner... there's no one way of paganism

I did a double major. Political Science and Anthropology, and minored in Biology. The science department at UH allows you focus on certain areas with your major/minor. So instead of learning about frogs and trees and cyanobacteria this or taxonomical debates about that, most of my 21 hours were in Biochemistry. History is just a thing I love to study. I think truth is usually better than fiction. Some people read novels, I read biographies and books about various empires and the like.

My knowledge of and interest in ancient religions comes from both my affinity for history and my background in anthropology. It took me 6-1/2 years, but hey who doesn't love college?

I'd probably be the closest you'd find to anything like that.
    And I'm none of it.

i can't think of one that's not...they stole all the pagan holidays to get more people into their conniving grasps....

i practiced druidism for a time...but the whole not eating meat thing....yea that didn't last long.

i dont celebrate christmas because it is a made up holiday, but i celebrate the winter solstice as it is an astrological event. millenia ago when the christian crusaders were conquering peoples and taking them over as slaves and assimilating them into their culture and belief systems, they would often take parts of their religions and roll them into christianity to make for more docile transition. if you do bible research you will learn the christ was actually supposed to be born in october sometime.

The catholic belief is steeped in paganism ie idol worship (mother and son). Most of it stems from Babylon.

Well I believe in buddhism. I believe in the passing and entering of new seasons... Your easter is my celebration of Spring and I dont pray I meditate. My kids are taught not to believe in some big dude in the sky but to believe in theirself.

You sound like you got a smart head on you. Because its been the Easter holidays ive had a chance to visit family and stuff. Anyways last weekend, my sisters to eldest girls, aged 8 and 9, have started asking questions on death and what happens when you die. My Mum chimes straight in with "oh you become a ghost and then go to heaven". I was pretty annoyed with that, so I had a word with them and told them that no one knows. And when they're a little older, they can make their own minds up.
