Trying to Get Pregnant & Hubby wants to start a new cycle..help please!!!!

Hi! I am a new member. I just joined earlier today. Can you please direct my question to the appropriate forum. thanks:


My hubby did roids for the first time ever back in summer of 2009. We had already had our son by then. he is 3 now. He has gotten me pg twice in our 13 years together, before he did the roids and neither of those times were intentional. they were accidents. We both thought we were super fertile from our past history.

So, now its 2011 and we started actively Trying for #2 in Jan. We are right now 5 months into trying, and im still not pregnant.. He hasnt done any roids since 2009. I know that what he did back in 09 probably isnt why we are not pregnant yet, but i cant help but wonder.

anyway, my problem is, that he is wanting to start another cycle again soon. Hes been wanting to do them for a few months now, but I told him he had to wait until i got pregnant to do them. Well, 5 months later im still not pregnant. and hes getting antsy. He has been faithfully working out 3 times a week and just taking some supplements and vitamins from GNC in the meantime. He wants to start the cycle again in about a month or two. And, obviously, I am not comfortable about him doing this right now while we are trying b/c I havent been able to get pg yet with him NOT doing them. I can't remember what he took back in 09. But from what he said it was a stronger cycle, he did 1 injection for 8 weeks. This time he says hes doing a less strong one and its 1 injection every 2 weeks, for 12 weeks..I think its called test 200, maybe?

He keeps telling me "how much longer am i gonna have to wait". "what if you dont get pregnant for a while still"??

i am really not cool with him doing them to begin with, but am trying to be supportive and know it is temporary.

I just feel stuck right now. I have had some fertility labs done and everything was normal. He wont get a Semen analysis done. But, I really wanted him to have that checked out before he started another cycle of roids.

Can you give me any advice at all? What should I do? and dont you think if im not getting pregnant with him not on a cycle right now, then its going to be near impossible while hes on them??

there are plenty of people who still get their girl pregnant while on cycle. Seems like the 2 of you have to sit down and have a serious conversation. I wish you the best

I can't give any advice on how bad it is or whatever, while trying to get preg.

But I will tell you.. My sister and her husband tried for almost a year.. He jumped on gear and 2 months later she was pregnant.. My niece is now 4 and she's an angel...(Just giving you my experience)

Also, its a numbers game.. So if you guys are trying x times a week, the more you try the better the chances right.. Well when he goes on, it will be like XX times a day (probably 23 times a day) so the chances are that much better..

yeah, the thing is, i dont know if he is willing to wait much longer. i would feel much better if he got checked now BEFORE he starts cycling again. This will likely be the LAST time he cycles anyway. he wanted to "try something different" so he says.

a sperm count would be best to see what is goin on at bare minimum.

if he does go on cycle, make sure to do HCG on cycle, it helps keep sperm count up. 500iu 2x a week would be good. this would help negate the impact on sperm that steroids have.

and x2, yall need to talk. a fertility test now will allow him to cycle faster instead of keep waiting and such.

AGREE with this. Why the hell does he not want to test his semen? Something isn't right there.

thanks alot!! i know what you mean. he has many friends who have conceived while on cycles, in between, or whatever. and i do agree that since he'll wanting to have sex more often, that could be a bonus. i am just torn on what to do. i want to make him get s sperm test BEFORE he starts a new cycle, but I dont think he will go get one done.

I get this! I do. but what hes trying to get at, is what if I dont get pregnant for another 6+ months?? know what i mean?

I totally agree. however, the situation gets a little tricker. I am the one who mainly wants another child. For our family and for our son to have a sibling. he would be perfectly fine with not having anymore. he does want another one to some extent. but not enough to not do the roids I guess. he agreed to start trying this year. I think he thought I would be pg right away, as we both thought we were really fertile. So, he figured by now i'd be pg and he could start his cycle.

Any AAS will suppress Testosterone, and in turn LH and FSH (hormones involved in the production of sperm) to some extent.... HCG will mimic the LH and FSH and basically keep thing ticking over while on AAS...

Most Exogenous hormones (if not all) will create the body to shut down that specific hormones natural production....

also, how long *typically* does it take for sperm production to get back to normal, or back to what it was before, after the cycle is completed? i have read online anywhere from 3-6 months after stopping the cycle? does it just depend on the TYPE of steroid being used?

he got his stuff from his buddy who does cycles on and off, and who also btw has 2 children

As for me, I have had some fertility stuff already checked out, everything normal. anything else i would need done would be more invasive and they want me to wait till we have been trying for 1 year.

just figure its so much easier for him to get checked out first.

I think it actually increase LH which in turn will increase production of sperm

there is no cycle i can think of that would be of any benifit injecting 1x every two weeks. so until he figures out what hes doin with roids tell him to hold off.

While on 'Gear' your natural production of Testosterone (and other related hormones) will be suppressed

A PCT is used to Bump start the production and hopefully re-gain full function ASAP

Tore

These are all drugs that are used by many for there PCT, which will last between 4 and 6 weeks

Does your man do anything else besides cycle? Does me smoke any mj? Reason i'm asking is cause my brother cycles as well, but he likes to smoke mj. Him and his wife were trying to have there 2nd child, tried for 8 months and nothing was happening. She went and got checked out, was offered fertility pills, everything was fine on her end. I had her talk to my mother in law who was once a labor nurse but changed fields and became a pediatrician and my mother in law stated that the aas wasn't really the problem but it was the fact that he smoked mj. He gave up smoking for 3 months, cleaned his system out, wasn't cycling at the time, and she ended up getting pregnant. Obviously not everyone smokes, especially people that enjoy going to the gym. He probably is rejecting the fact to have himself checked out cause he's nervous he might get some negative feedback from the doctor. But that's the only real way to know if it is infact the problem as to why his eggs aren't working.

He doesnt now. He used to for the majority of our relationship though, up until about 2 years ago. He actually got me pregnant both times while smoking MJ reguraly, go figure lol. He stopped after our son was born. and then started again for a few months while he was cycling back in 2009 cause he had trouble sleeping. but after that he stopped and hasnt smoked again since.

Well its plain to see he isnt telling her everything or she is forgetting wat he told her.This is really a touchy subject.One that the two of you need to settle.This kind of issue can end and has a marriage.Now its easy for guys to say give her wat she wants.But it takes two.And you said he isnt all that thrilled.Well sometimes also trying to hard aint a good thing.All good things happen in time.I hope you get wat you want.God knows it will make life easier at home if he gives in.He will learn this in time But keep us posted.And let us know when you get PG.And you will good luck and God Bless

we have been together for 13 years and have gotten through alot of things. i dont think something like this will end our marriage. we have a very strong marriage and relationship. When you said sometimes trying too hard aint a good thing, i agree, and yet another reason why i thought, what the heck, he'll prob start cycling and ill end up preggo, watch. cause that is how it work lol, when you are not trying.

and what about just using the HCG during cycling? the purpose it to prevent the testes from shutting down sperm production right?

i see. no problem. so if i tell him he needs to take that, will that pretty much keep his sperm production going while cycling? that is the purpose of it right? to prevent complete shutdown during cycling. at least from the threads you provided me with to read, that is what is sounds like.

also: in your honest opinion, from your experience with gear and their use, do you think that the one 8 week cycle he did back in summer of 2009 would still have an effect on his teste production NOW? like is that a real possibility of WHY i am not getting pregnant, or is it pretty unlikely? i have read so much info online that says it regenerates production after about 3-6 months..so im just honestly curious. I know there is no way to know for sure without a sperm test done, but what is your experience with this? thank you so much!!
