    All about strength

So I've switched from bodybuilding to more powerlifting like I did in high school. I've been following the 5x5 program and had pretty good strength increases. What are your opinions on the best splits to build strength?

When I powerlifted my splits were based on my comp lifts. For example, one day was bench training, with board work and accessory lifts. Then squat then deadlift. I usually added in a plyo day were I did exercise to increase overall explosiveness and keep my cardio up.

So Monday and Thursday was bench, Tuesday-Friday was deads and Wednesday Saturday was squat. I tried to get 3 days rest between different body parts.

I think this is a good split. I agree with MuscleScience. Or you could do Monday and thursday bench, Tuesday and friday deadlift, and Wednesday and saturday squat. This gives you breaks in between.

Try some 7x4 sets with your Olympic lifts while keeping with your 5x5 with ancillary movements.

What I found to be more helpful with a bi-week split.

    Chest/Back
    Shoulders/Bi/Tri
    Legs/Core

This routine twice a week with a rest day.
Get in the gym, do your lifts, and get out.
Try to keep these workouts under 70 minutes.

    Goodluck!
