Who do you think will win the 2004 Stanley Cup?

Who do you think will win the 2004 Stanley Cup?

Colorado has to be the team to beat with Sakic, Forsberg, Kariya, Selanne, Hejduk, Tanguay, and Blake. Question mark to date is their goaltending. Roy cannot come back as he has already filed his retirement papers to the NHLPA...therefore disabling his return this year. He can come back in 1 years time. I think they're going to go after Burke, or Khabibulan. There's no way the Wings will trade Cujo to the Avs now.

Odds to win the 2004 Stanley Cup

    Colorado Avalanche 3/1
    Detroit Red Wings 4/1
    New Jersey Devils 5/1
    Ottawa Senators 7/1
    Dallas Stars 8/1
    Philadelphia Flyers 10/1
    Vancouver Canucks 10/1
    St. Louis Blues 12/1
    Toronto Maple Leafs 14/1
    Anaheim Mighty Ducks 18/1
    Tamba Bay Lightning 18/1
    Minnesota Wild 18/1
    New York Rangers 18/1
    Boston Bruins 22/1
    Washington Capitals 24/1
    Edmonton Oilers 25/1
    Los Angeles Kings 30/1
    Phoenix Coyotes 40/1
    New York Islanders 40/1
    San Jose Sharks 45/1
    Chicago Blackhawks 45/1
    Montreal Canadiens 50/1
    Carolina Hurricanes 55/1
    Pittsburgh Penguins 60/1
    Nashville Predators 60/1
    Buffalo Sabres 70/1
    Atlanta Thrashers 72/1
    Florida Panthers 75/1
    Calgary Flames 75/1
    Columbus Blue Jackets 100/1

Well, I think Colorado has the most skilled team in the league, but in this day and age, that doesn't always win the cup. Still, I'll go with the avs.

It's all about the Avs! I have been a huge Colorado fan even though they stuck with Roy. He had his moments, but it's great that he decided to put it up. I hope they find a good replacement. REDROCK

Since no one else on this planet will say it...GO FLAMES!!

I cheer for the Flames since no one has hopped onto their bandwagon yet. I was a Sens fan...then a Canucks fan...but the bandwagon hoppers ruined it all!! I have to pick at least one Cdn team to follow along with my Flyers.

Money boss, bro! Live here, play at there practice rink, follow the team, love the team....THEY WILL GO NO PLACE! HACKETT SUCKS!

Clarke, needs to go! GD! I live and die by the Flyers and I don't see anything good in the next few years. We went to the Flyers Leafs game 5? I think and man what a blast I think we won like 6-1? We're sitting at the bar and Schultzy comes up right next to me orders like 3 CC and diet pepsi's! Yeah he can't throw too good eh!??? Saw Donald Brashear, my man's gotta Lambrogheni!

    SID!

Avs, if they get a goalie! I'll take a dark horse this year....Leafs.

Rangers all the way baby!!! Seriously though even though I'm a Rangers fan I'm doubtful. If they don't win it here is my list for teams:

Flyers: Want them to win because I work with Leclair's mother so more than likely he'd bring it here....always wanted to touch the cup.

Lightning: Martin St. Louis...pride of the University of Vermont so more than likely I'd get to see the cup also. Inside information....The Lightning signed Eric Perrin who played with Martin St. Louis since they were little kids up to college where they were called the French Connection of college hockey. They are considered the greatest twosome in college hockey history....You want to see some crazy shit you watch the two of them play together next year!

    Realistic: Colorado will be unstoppable

I follow hockey more than I would like to admit...and maybe that's why this is bothering me so much. Can Roy come back or can't he? One article I read says that he can...another said he can't. Does anyone know the NHLPA agreement like the back of their hand?

    CAN'T PLAY:
Hasek was also asked if his decision to return would spur rival Patrick Roy to return for one more year with the Colorado Avalanche. While he said he would welcome the challenge, agent Rich Winter confirmed that Roy has filed his retirement papers with the NHL, meaning he can't return to play until after next season at the earliest.

    CAN PLAY:
NHL rules would permit Avs goalie Patrick Roy to back out of his voluntary retirement and return to Colorado, if he so chooses. Avs GM Pierre Lacroix, always the cagey sort, dismisses suggestions that Roy might change his mind. So does Roy's agent.

The real rub: To return, Roy would need not only the written consent of the Avalanche, but the other 29 teams as well -- something that would be unlikely, according to the Denver Post. It's a good bet the Wings would object to that move. . . .

    2 things...

Philly win NEVER win a cup under Bob Clarke. If he didn't have a playing history with the Flyers he would have been fired years ago.

Never trust a Vegas oddsmaker when it comes to hockey. They just don't seem to get it.

Big T, love the Penguano's but reality sucks for us right now...no $duckets$!

MBH, he can still play, look at the guys that have come back, not to mention he's one of the greatest goalie's ever..

Excess, Bobby Clarke is Ed Snider's favorite son, just ask his kids! Who was the Flyers' last GM???????

I love tradition so I'm going Leafs...I don't think they have a real shot, but I just always liked them.

My initial thought is the Avs. However, depending on what they do about Roy replacement will tell you whether they are a real contender. There are some very good FA goal tenders available this year. Poyvin and possibly Joseph as well to name only two.

Philly honestly has the best young D'man prospects in the league.

Seidenberg, Vandermeer, Woywitka, and now they just signed Pitkanen. I hope Clarke doesn't get impatient as usual and start trading them off.

MBH, I have this to say about Clarke and I'll do it this way....
2 years ago we had 3 top goalie prospects and now we have 2 guys that are in the Chyk league, (where was the goalie we just traded from????) and he won't sign them. Clarke will trae 2 of the 4 and we will receive in return one of the following:

    a) Paul Coffee - because he maybe able to skate still and you know you can't have that much youth.
    b) Peter Svboda - because 1 he played here before, 2 he has the same name as one of the agents he deals with constantly and believes it may help negotiation. Even though he can't play anymore that good old veteran leadership thing...blah blah blah
    c) Any of large group of washed up Wingers
    d) and the probably the most likely to happen, given that these are very skilled D-men that they need and have needed for a long long time....
A mucker-and-grinder! That is slow, can't shoot, and has to have the ability to get caught deep in the o-fensiver zone! But atleast we'll get a bag of pucks and a salary that the guys should never have made!

The Flames have a better chance than the Canadiens or the Panthers.

LOW BLOW! Well, I guess you're right. To some degree. Montreal can make the playoffs, they have the power to do that, and the skill, but they ALWAYS fuck up due to goaltending, injuries, and poor management. They don't invest enough time and money into that team (IMO).

Hell, two years ago, we make it in 8th place, and BEAT BOSTON! And then, next year, instead of getting better, we don't even make the fucken playoffs. GRRRR!!!

Well, if Montreal gets some BALLS, and don't fuck up, and only invest into that team, 2-3 years they will amazing!!

What about the Kings in first place even with there top two players being out on the IR.

Can we end the season now. The cup needs to come to Los Angeles.

Roy needs to retire. I'm a huge Roy fan. He's been the best in the net for a decade. Now he just needs to say goodbye and not drag it out like alot of these guys do now. I would really hate to see him end his career like Fuhr (another of my Fav's) did.

Roy retired after last season. David Aebischer is the starting goaltender.

I knew that but from what I read from you guys it looked like you were talking about him returning. Maybe I misunderstood you? BTW MBH don't confuse me with the average stupid West Coast American who knows nothing about hockey. I've played it for 10 years now and followed it even longer.

Just to let you know how much Hockey means to me: I made my wife wait a day to go on our Honeymoon so I could play in a playoff game.

Just bugging you bro...I know you follow hockey.

Most of the Roy stuff was the media speculating. Roy himself never said he's coming back, etc.
