    Does Steroids make you Smarter?

    Hey all,
When I was on my cycle, I noticed I had enormously increased brain performance. I was able to concentrate crystal clear. My imagination became more vivid and unreal. When I would picture something in my mind..I could not only see the view more clearer in my mind, but I could also smell, hear, and feel the environment I was feeling upon. I found myself more awake and alert often too, as I was able to go dead asleep like a baby, or to stay awake with energy if I wanted. to It was as if whatever I had commanded my body to do..My body did it 3x the realistic and improved way than without steroids. Anybody have theories/facts to support this question? I am very interested to hear what the outcome will be...allright thanks bros and sissies lol

I think i've read that when on a cycle some people become more focused because of the increase in testosterone...that could be part of it.

hey bdtr, grammar is not my first priority like yours is. I focus on the 'meat' of the information. Jokes and popularity races are NOT my speciality. Yes, steroids do make you smarter, because on it, I remember things easily, and number values are not hard to forget.

They do not. arent you the kid that went on a cycle at 19 and everyone talked you into stopping mid way? ...you havent been through a full cycle anyway how would you know.

BTW... Im not the flaming type but you always give false info to questions from other members. I suggest you read and dont hit any "new thread" or "reply" buttons in the near future.

    Testosterone's Influence on the Brain

The male hormone, testosterone, does more than you think. Its claim to fame once was its effect on a man's reproductive system. Now, new research indicates that it also can influence the brain. It aids memory and protects the brain from the memory-impairing disorder, Alzheimer's disease, according to thestudies. The findings may lead to new therapies, particularly for older men.

For a while it seemed that women had a leg up in the battle of the sexes.

Over the years, much research on estrogen indicated that, in addition to influencing a woman's reproductive functions, this "female" hormone also helps a variety of brain functions, including memory. Now, recent studies find evidence that evens the playing field. The "male" hormone, testosterone, known for its role in maintaining a man's reproductive system, shares estrogen's double duty. The research is leading to:
    * Possible new brain-aiding therapies, particularly for older men who, like older women, appear to experience a hormone decrease as they age.
    * A better understanding of how testosterone interacts with other players in the brain to carry out many tasks.

Testosterone and estrogen were thought to do no more than activate and oversee the male and female organ systems that produce offspring. Then in the 1970s, researchers found evidence that mature female rats had brain cells with receiving areas, known as receptors, which were specifically constructed to process estrogen. This suggested that a woman's estrogen could help the brain perform certain duties. Since that time, many studies indicate that the hormone can aid memory in women as well as protect their brains from developing ailments such as the memory impairing disorder, Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Taking this lead, researchers recently examined the male side and found that testosterone also provides men with some brain advantages.

For example, new studies show that supplements of testosterone can aid certain types of memory in men. Working memory, which allows you to manipulate information over brief periods of time in order to make a response, improves. Verbal memory, which helps you recall lists of words, and spatial memory, which helps you navigate a route, also benefit.

Other work suggests that testosterone, like estrogen, may help prevent the development of AD and its resulting memory decline. Scientists found that compared with healthy men, those with AD have lower levels of testosterone. Another group found that testosterone supplements improved verbal and spatial memory in a small group of men with AD. The researchers currently are testing more patients to confirm the results.

Testosterone may prevent AD by warding off the brain destruction that marks the ailment. Studies of rat brain cells found that the hormone limits the production of beta-amyloid peptides. These sticky protein fragments, thought to be a prime contributor to AD, build up into small, round deposits and clog the brains of people with the disease.

The hormone also may help ward off AD by directly preventing brain cell death. In studies, researchers manipulated human brain cells, sending them on a course to die. Adding doses of testosterone, however, limited the cell death (see images).

While together the results show a new positive side to testosterone, scientists say they need to conduct more research before they would encourage people to take testosterone supplements for brain aid. With its benefits, the powerful hormone also may create some negative effects. For example, some believe that it may spur the development of prostate cancer in certain recipients. Additional studies on large groups of people will help researchers evaluate whether the pluses of testosterone supplementation outweigh the minuses.

Scientists also plan to define the specific mechanisms that carry out the brain benefit. Currently, they are using brain-imaging techniques and molecular methods to track how testosterone induces its actions. Testosterone can convert to estrogen in the brain, so as part of this work, they also want to know whether the benefits are directly from testosterone or from mechanisms that occur after its conversion. Researchers are testing this by blocking an enzyme that converts testosterone to see if it can still create positive effects. Armed with specific information on how testosterone works, a drug might be developed that activates only the positive effects without unwanted side effects.

As I recall, there is some science that indicates that steorids should technically impair brain function at some level (I think the study was on rats). However, the increased competition could more than make up for that by making you more motivated. I will search for the article... I recently found some information indicating that steroids lower serotonin levels as well (serotonin = a "happiness" neurotransmitter)

sigmund froid-thank you very much for your help and support. These other immature guys cant answer that question, so since they cant, they will either say a joke...or criticize me about how my information I give to other people is "false" lol. But wait, with all of the juice you have pumped into your body, this theory should make you (bdtr) about the sharpest thing around here..or at least on par with BigGreen.

As for the mental performance, it might be a placebo effect. You are excited about being "on," and everything is all rosy. You work yourself up about starting your cycle, you finally get started...and life is grand. That translates into everything you do...you simply feel better about yourself, and your performance increases.

My original post was a lighthearted joke, hardly a flame. I'm far too cranky right now to go into it with someone or answer serious questions.

Bro, my post wasn't directed towards you. I just know that taking Test, (especially in my case of having low levels) There is a direct relationship between lowered testosterone levels and impaired memory, inability to concentrate. I definitely seem to have a better mental "well being" while on and I definitely seem to concentrate better.

I have to agree because I am also on HRT and suffer from low testosterone levels. The reason you may feel better is because you may in fact have naturally low testosterone and when you have more in your bady than usual you get the sense of well being and feel like a million bucks. I'm in sales and my numbers show that the months I am on a cycle I have more sales because the other moneths I'm just not motivated. I don't think they actually make you smarter cause Ronnie Coleman sounds like he's half retarded when he speaks, but I think because you do feel jakked up and great, your also more alert and motivated to do normal everyday tasks. I loathe yardwork, but on a cycle I use it as a workout, just remember to switch sides LOL! I think it's the sense of well being that makes you more attentive to details and therefore may lead to becoming smarter only because your more willing to pay attention to the little shit! Just my .02

Seems to be more a function of enhanced mental "well-being" like blt said...i feel more confident and aggressive, so i tackle all of my tasks (even mental ones) with more focus...

from my experience, i'm not specifically smarter, just more focused...kind of like a mental boost (similar to the effects of caffeine, at least for me)

I can only relate this to the viagra commercials. If you have something in life that is serously holding you back then it holds you back in everything that you do. When you got on AS and broke the barriors that were holding you back then you began to excell in everything that you are doing.

Oh yeah, Did you get a new haircut?

Well if you consider smarter to be lifting heavier weight than I would say yes. Honestly though when I am on test I rarely think with my brain, and most most of the time by dick does all the thinking.

I think a lot of women and especially lesbians think testosterone is the stupifying hormone, that is unless you are a lesbian and shooting yourself with 600 mg a week, hehehe.

Interesting point guys. Thank you all (you know who you are) for your professional straight reply. BLT, I am beginning to come to the conclusion that I may have low natural test..because with im not on steroids..its harder to concentrate, I feel tired a lot, and im usually aggravated, but when im on the juice, I feel like f*cking god, and my mental compacity boosts greatly.

  31. #31
oh and i forgot to add, this may sound a little funny, but when I was on the juice My drive was unreal, I actually gasped at the sight of all that cum shooting off. Usually when im natural, theres like only 3 little shots of cum thats dribbles out and thats it man. Should I get checked by a doctor? I hope I have low natural testosterone so a doctor can hook me up guys!!!! I would Love that, please by god, I have low natural test.

lol doc holiday, I admit I laughed my ass off too, I intended the topic to be something funny so I can attract a variety of wonderful people like you! You see...I am getting bored of regular, stupid topics being asked the same time weekly. So what I intend to do, is create unique topics with some humor behind it, so i can attract viewers. But, what I see is extremly immature behavior, especially coming from MODS (which I never expected) exploiting my jokes to their full pleasure...I guess people like BDTR and a variety of others just cannot handle a little light joke to go along with the topic/and/or text structure. I will keep notation of this for the next time. I have read an article from MD magazine, and I will look over the entire magazine for that particular article to show you guys steroids DO make you smarter for at least some people.

This thread is pointless. don't even bother replying, Im not going to waste my time viewing this again.

I have a friend who is an oral surgeon and a fairly successful bodybuilder. In college he told me that his grades were always better when he was juicing.

I wouldn't think steroids would make someone smarter. Is it possible that they could make someone more focused and attentive ?
