The size of one's veins are the direct effect of genetics. No matter what you do, you will never have that 3/4" vein running down your bicep, unless you were born that way. You will be able to notice your vascularity much better if you have low bodyfat, and by low I mean less than 8%. NO2(arginine and ornithine) can make your veins look fuller. Equipoise and actual EPO increases red blood cell production and can therefore make your veins seem fuller as well. Vanadyl sulfate increases the fullness of your veins as well, but through what mechanism I am not sure of, but I do know that many have stopped using vanadyl because it is liver toxic. It is very hard to find unless you go online.Originally Posted by SuperLift

Really? I just thought Ronnie Colman had vein implant surgery to get those garden hoses in his body!Originally Posted by Logan13

Toxicity is only an issue at high dosages, like those mentioned by others earlier in this thread. Unfortunately, many subscribe to the more is better philosophy thus enacting the Law of Diminishing Returns, when the bell-shaped curve begins it's decent. It is completely safe if kept at 7.5-10mgs as recommended.Originally Posted by Logan13
Here is some information addressing such claims, though the University of Missouri no longer supports this on their open website, it can be specifically requested:
Eager to find an answer, several research teams have explored the issue of vanadyl sulfate’s toxicity. http://extension.missouri.edu/hesnutrnews/fnr95-4.htm In one study, 12 subjects were given 13.5 mg of vanadyl sulfate daily for two weeks and then 22.5 mg daily for five months. The results were discouraging. Over 40% of the subjects developed gastrointestinal disturbances. This points to the fact that vanadyl sulfate is difficult for the body to handle over periods of time. In addition, over 40% of the subjects also developed a green tongue! Not only unsightly, this odd occurrence also showed that vanadium was building up in the body and appears to have the potential to poison humans in more serious ways. These findings are especially disturbing when one considers that some vanadyl sulfate vendors recommend that athletes consume almost six times the amount of vanadyl sulfate used in the studies. To test the fact that vanadium could potentially be accumulating in the body as a result of vanadyl sulfate supplementation, another research group tested vanadyl sulfate’s toxicity at even higher doses. In the study, death rates for the rats exposed to high levels of vanadyl sulfate were as high as 50%. They were cured of diabetes, but such results are certainly not considered positive with such a high mortality rate.

I really felt that VS worked well(I took it back in '96-'99), but I took a slightly higher dose than that.Originally Posted by magic32
Just think of vascularity as a side-effect of lower bodyfat, regardless of how you get there. If you have alot of fat, your vascularity will not be visible, no matter what or how much you take.

Got to be careful with the Niacin...too much will cause a flushing affect... you will turn bright red and feel like you got the worst sunburn ever.

It's more of a byproduct than a side effect.Originally Posted by Logan13

I think of Vanadyl as more of a temporary vascularity enhancer... Say for either contest or spring break trip or whatever... I have read a couple of the toxicity studies and I wouldn't advise taking it for 5 or six months.. Just personal opinion and experience
That is the first few times till you get used to it, and especially if you take it on an empty stomach, that is why you have to start from a low dose. I started at 250mg, now i am on 1g and rarely get the flushing. It is harmless but it can be really awful. And trust me, the itching (i have got it just once) is far more unpleasant than the flushing effect. If there was a pool around i would have probably plunged in it..Originally Posted by Archetypes
ANY enhanced vascularity is both incidental and temporary. Vanadyl is a vasodilator not an enhancer.Originally Posted by uponone23

A vasodilator does just what the name implies, “vaso” vein, “dilator” increase in size. It increases vein size to shuttle more nutrients into working muscles. This was stated earlier in the thread.

niacin can be rough on the liver for some people at the larger doses.
dandelion root, glycerol, thimucase cream
As far as i know, this is only for the time-released version of niacin which doesnt cause flushing/itching etc.Originally Posted by Phil ORourke

vascularity has a direct relation to your body fat. the lower you get your body fat, the more your veins will show. i believe the veins and striations in the legs are the hardest to achieve and come last.
