    Pectoral strain ?

Last friday I was doing bench and on one of my lighter sets I felt a pull on the outside of my chest near my armpit.

Now it is almost 4 days later and it is still bothering me. I have not worked chest or shoulders do to the injury. There is no bruising or swelling almost feels like tendonitious in the muscle if that makes sence.

Do you think I could have torn something?

What is the typical layoff time for a injury like this?

Week 4 of a cycle should I stop it and wait until I'm 100 percent again or work around it?

Input and comments are greatly appreciated. Go easy on my spelling I'm on a blackberry

    Thanks in advance

I'D say its def a tear depends on how bad try judging it on this

Grade 1 strains involve a few torn muscle or tendon fibers. Loss of strength is minimal, and recovery quite manageable.
Grade 2 strains involve more torn fibers, bruising, some loss of strength, and a longer rehab period
Grade 3 causes a lot of pain, swelling and bruising u may have hered a ripping sound when you did it in most cases grade 3 requires surgery

If you experience swelling, place an ice pack on the swollen area 15 minutes at a time. You don't even have to wait for the swelling to appear; if you can feel the muscle strain, start applying the ice pack. Anti-inflammatory will also help reduce swelling in the area and can help reduce pain.

    recovery times

Grade 1 recovery takes a matter of days. You can return to training when the symptoms have disappeared.
    Grade 2 recovery is a matter of weeks—approximately 2-6.
Grade 3 complete tears usually require surgery; full recovery takes months

partial tear of pectoralis major, also found some wear on my shoulder. Good news was it did not come from the bone. Its been almost a month and I still cant do a push up. I have started PT and am sticking to the rehab like glue

good luck with your injury, if you did in fact tear it, it is not a good time. It sounds like you did the bruising is the blood from the muscle tear. My arm eventually turned purple all around my upper bicep
