Question about Prednisolon

I know an old lady who received Prednisolon at a hospital,
about 6 years ago it was.
The thing is when she could go home she couldn't move at all anymore.
Later she saw an ad in the paper with the question if more people received this at hospital. The outcome was that a couple of hundred people were treated with Prednisolon and they almost all end up in wheelchairs.

Now i have so many questions about it:
Has anyone heard about this?
Is this possible?
Can Prednisolon have this input on people?
Is there a solution?

I am very confused about it all and hoping for some suggestions, info etc.
