Anyone ever drink absinthe?

ive had absinth in europe, the us and stuff made from wormwood. None of it is worth it imo. Or maybe it's just that it was so hyped I expected more from it. But i'll never do it again, not because of bad experience just because I didnt enjoy it.

You can buy the stuff here in Russia at any liquor store. Really a strange buzz, the wormwood is kind of a stimulant and the liquor is really stong, so you get hammered and kind of watch yourself being smashed.

I like the taste, beats the $hit out of vodka.

In Prague,they pour the absinthe through a sugar cube, I have never seen it lit before. Lighting it is really just waste alchohol, since that is all you are buring off.

It is good stuff for a change of pace and the hangover is really an easy one, since you don't really drink that much admixtures.

Cheap stuff costs $10 for a half liter and the great stuff goes for about $50 for the same volume.

Van Gogh had severe mental problems, I would find it hard to believe Absinthe is why he cut his ear off...

Pernod was the most popular Absinthe of that time, you can no longer get it unless you want to pay out the ass for a hundred year old unopened bottle.

i own a liquor store and we sell it but the real stuff is illegal. ours is hills absinthe. the real stuf that van gogh cut his ear off wit is only availabl ein france i think

johan there are recipies all over the net. If you cant find one try erowid.com and if you still can't get one shoot me a pm. But you live in sweeden, cant you just buy it there? If not just take a weekend trip to france, or czech republic or somewhere and go into any bar. They have it shelved like any other alcohol

Yes I can buy absinthe here but its not real absinthe done the old fashion way. Just the new crap with minimal ammounts of thujone.. So I dont bother with the new stuff. I dont like beeing drunk anyway. But if I want liqour I prefer absinthe cause of the taste yumyum
