Plus that kid who got locked up via the FBI b4 9/11 for learning to fly commercial planes supposedly used Bergs e-mail for contact with ppl...

while everyone is arguing I would like to prove this cocky SOB that his story he is 'neutral' to is wrong.

1) Most people replied by asserting that the execution occured as retribution to the abuse photos that had surfaced, but you have to ask yourself - do these terrorists, who are clearly capable of brainwashing people to the point where they are willing to kill and be killed for their beliefs, really have no concept of political tact? Here they are, the whole world screaming at the US for hypocrisy and injustice over these pictures, and they perform and publish this execution right in the heat of the scandal. In other words, these masters of brainwashing and spin and deception release a video of a despicable act just as the US, their sworn enemy, is being globally grilled. Does this make sense to you?

why would they want to waste their time brainwashing the guy when they could do something much worse? Remember these guys were pissed about the treatment of the Iraqi prisoners. I believe their goal was to piss off the US and avenge what the they did to the prisoners. I hate to say it but goal achieved.

2) Second, I wonder what the standard issue chair is at Abu Ghraib prison?

color seems pretty plain and common to me. I don't remember seeing any vivid colors in any of the news reports I've seen on tv in Iraq. when was the last time you seen anything besides biege on CNN when they cover Iraq? think about it for a sec.

4) Is it not also interesting that Berg is wearing the same orange jumpsuit worn by prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison? Sure, you say, perhaps he was kidnapped directly from the prison (as stupid as this sounds, anyway) - but then can you please explain (7)?

I am suggesting here that Berg was already dead when the decapitation occured (which accounts for 5). Before you go calling me crazy, please review the evidence; why did he not exhibit the convulsions that go hand in hand with decapitation (especially such an extended one)?

I (regretfully) watched the part where they held him down and he was sitting on his knees right before they grabbed him. Pretty hard to prop up a dead guy. And it is also hard to go into convusions when there's 4 men holding you down.

7) Is it not curious that the US denies contact with Berg, and yet his friends and family insist that he told them he was being held by the US? Huh? Why?

I read an article that said everything the US did with Berg and they are not denying contact (anymore if they ever were) and they did release him before these guys got him.

8) Another tape oddity - the men SPEAK RUSSIAN for several seconds. Not only that, but they speak Arabic with Russian accents. That's right, in the final seconds of the tape, one of the men speaks in Russian. Those here who understand russian (and have the stomach to view that final seconds of the video) can verify this. Those who speak Arabic will be able to verify that these men speak Arabic in Russian accents.

there is no arabic men in russia? there have been arabic canadians and americains arrested for terrorism. what are the sources on this anyways? I thought it was concluded the man with the knife in the video had a Egyptian accent?

9) Finally (the physical evidence that will convince you in case you already aren't)...
You will notice, in watching the video, that 6 times, a gold ring flashes on the hand of the executioner. What is the problem? Islam completely and utterly forbids men to wear gold rings. This fanatical muslim, willing to kill in a gutwrenching manner, and be killed for his beliefs, is violating one of the clear prohibitions of his religion? Really? DOES THIS MAKE SENSE TO YOU?

If I'm not mistaken, Islam forbids ill treatment of prisoners. They obviously didnt obey that so why the hell would they obey anything else?

10) Nick Berg understands Arabic, but sits calmy while statement is read, waiting to be killed. Hmm?

I have read up on nick berg and he did NOT speak arabic fluently. In fact, in an interview his parents told reporters that he struggled with the language while living in Iraq.

11) One of the executioners is wearing Air Jordans. WHAT?

they dont have shoe stores in the mid east? I suppose they all should be wearing wooden sandels while riding a camel.

12) The "terrorists" signed the video, yet they wear hoods and masks. Why?

I could be wrong but I believe the US concluded that the man using the knife said he was someone else than who they identified him to be with voice anylasis. maybe he wanted them to chase someone else. who knows.

this is not a very good arguement as the video is poor quality and lighting could have been a factor.

14) The video time is in US Military English. What the hell?

Saddam and Osama are not of " different sects ". Saddam for one is not a Muslim whereas Osama is part of a radical branch of islam. Also , they're ethnic backgrounds really do not clash - Saddam having been born in Iraq , Osama being born to a VERY wealthy saudi family.

They're quite afew connections between the two men. for example , the mastermind behide the first attack on the Trade Center's was the nephew of one of saddam's top advisors. Osama and Saddam would indeed form an alliance together to break the U.S or bring harm to israel.

When France and the U.S sided together in the American Revolution they did not do so out of love , but out of a common hatred for the English - the relationship between saddam and osama is (was) the same. Do I think Saddam was currently funding osama with biological weapons ? no , probably not . Was there a good chance he would ? Yes . Could they have formed plans together ? Yes .

I think if the U.S " faked " the tape it would be without flaw.

You havn't come back with any good refuting points, so it is more the other way around, you arn't taking the article and thinking.

Did america have time to do a proper job on it? Probably not, and it is very hard to alter IMAGE (ie. timestamp) on a VHS. On a 9mm (or any other size) reel it is far easier.

What is there to refute? I believe the whole theory is bullsh*t. If you're looking for a point by point rebuttal I believe Prariedawg did a good job. As far as convulsions, I've seen a dozen of these decapitation videos and never saw a convulsing body. So believe as you may but to me it's fantasy.
