    USO Care Packages!!

    Back in the day....we used to be able to send letters and packages to "any service member"....and because of security concerns they had to stop that. Now you can donate care packages via USO and earn AA miles.

    Operation USO Care Package provides care packages to deployed service members. Due to heightened security, individuals can no longer send letters and packages marked for delivery to "Any Service Member". Through Operation USO Care Package, you can sponsor a care package which includes requested items such as pre-paid worldwide phone cards, sunscreen, disposable cameras, travel size toiletries, and a personal note of thanks for their service and scrifice. The cost to sponsor a care package is $25, which is 100% tax deductible. For every care package donated, AAdvantage® members will earn 125 AAdvantage® miles.

    Approved and endorsed by the Department of Defense, the USO Care Package is a way to send a message to encouragement thanking the troops for their service and sacrifice. Space is provided for you to write a personal message of support to the service member who will receive the package.

    Thanks Slick. I'm glad that so many people care ..... when there are so many out there protesting us.

    During the first gulf war, my mom went around my home town and took up collections from the other merchants. Got toiletries, notecards, playing cards, etc...and mailed it to me in Germany. Some of my staff got the same from their families. We repackaged the stuff into small boxes, addressed them and shipped them out to "any soldier" via the MPO. The military post office (MPO) let us send them out for free. Felt good to be able to do something . The post office wasn't thrilled when I showed up with 100+ boxes to ship out LOL
