Christianity's elemental issues is that "there is none righteous - no, not one" that means ANYONE - the whole point is to recognise this and accept forgiveness for your sins - point is that Jesus (God Himself) paid the price for you, and He always meant it to be that way - problem is, it is foolish for people to think that they are going to get to heaven on their own merits....
Actually, many of the people on this thread have real hope if they are being honest here - why? because the first step is to recognise that you are a sinner and deserve hell for your actions - only then can you believe that you need forgiveness - but many people are fooled into thinking that "Im a pretty good person, maybe not perfect but better than that guy or etc." There is little that God can do there because only those who know that they are sick will seek help at the hands of the DR.
But its not enough to recognise sin - ya have to be willing to have Him change you - you cant really do it yourself anyway - and you have to accept the gift of salvation - in effect you believe that although you deserve hell, because Jesus loved you and paid your ticket, you are forgiven of your many sins - thus you will be in His presence (Heaven) when you die - and you live your life in gratitude of that gift - ie, even tho you were not worthy, you were loved and forgiven - thats why you are supposed to forgive other people! Because you have been forgiven, even of hellfire. Thats why we love, because we are truly loved. And here at Christmas, thats why we give, because we have been given the greatest gift of allIts a simple prayer but God has promised to answer it - and He who knows who has been naughty or nice far more than Santa does will make a new life for those who believe...both here in this life and the life to come.
Merry Christmas
