It utterly amazes me that people are still suprised by all of this. I have nothing but respect for these guys. However I would have much more respect if they would just come right out & say.
"Yes I did steroids. It was not against the rules at the time so I did them. Many players in the league have & are using them. Without steroids I would have fallen below the new bench mark that steroids have helped to set."
Yet, we live in this sugar coated, candy ass, politicaly correct, sports world. At least that is how it has been portraied latley.
I played Div. I baseball "once upon a time." I know for sure, that six guys on my team used AS. I had my doubts about several others. I probably would have never made it pro, but if I had it to do all over again, knowing what I know now. I would absolutly use AS. Of the six guys that I know for sure that did it (because I visually saw the do it) four of them were drafted. Two of them are on major league rosters today. When we firts began playing together, not one of those guys was a serious prospect for the draft. Whether they would have ended up being drafted anyway, who knows?
In conclusion I say to anyone who says that steroids don't make you a better player. I say this. They will not make a chess player into a centerfielder, but they will turn singles to doubles. Triples to homers. And for many pitchers, it makes a 90mph fastball possible.
OK I'm through venting.![]()
