when using torrents youre sharing parts of the file you have. sending it to all sorts of other people WHILE you download.. making it so someone could monitor who all was downloading by watching who was uploading etc..
theres never a safe way to do it really. but i like mirc and ircspy.com.. youre pretty much only connected to one person.
personally i just have private ftps i use that have all the music ill ever want. but if you want to take a risk (its a minimal one though) torrents are definitely the way to go.
