Why take a chance? 1-1/2" cost the same as 1". Use the longer ones and you won't have to worry about it. For sites where you normally use 1", you can still use the long pin, just don't put it in all the way. I don't even buy 1". I buy my 3cc terumos with 1-1/2" 21ga on them for my drawing pin, and I buy 25ga and sometimes 23ga for shooting.
