I find that in some ways it is more the way the person works out. When i see BB's in my gym they are usually the ones who do more drop sets and always drop to lower weights and go through the motions perfectly to really bring out the muscle definition. When I see just a regular person who works out and is fairly big they usually do a more standard 4 sets 8 reps routine. And although this can be seen with BB's also, I usually see them concetrate a lot more on working every head of the muscle and "touching" up on proportions etc.
