These people are out they keeping the peace for us and when a hoodlum pulls a gun and fires a shot nontheless they are screaming foul play?

Similar situation happened in a nearby city. One officer and bad guy died and the other officer involved in the shooting was put on a civil trial and the judge ordered that nothing be given to bad guys family. I like what I am hearing here, being a cop myself and having everyone understand that we are going to do whatever we have too, within reason, to go home to our families every night is absolutely justified when someone shoots at you.
