The hardest part of bodybuilding for me

I've finally figured out the hardest part about bodybuilding. It's not the workouts, and its not the nutrition. It's the motivation that can easily become lost when I cannot be 110% in the gym. I guess it's more of a personality flaw than anything, I'm an all or none kind of guy. If I cannot be 110% its too easy to not be anything. I guess we all face things in life once in awhile that take priority to bodybuilding if we ever want to get anyplace. So I've worked lately on trying to overcome this, its difficult to take a step backwards w/ bodybuilding in order to take 2 steps forward with life and financial status. It's hard looking at pictures of what you were and now looking at what you are physically. I'm still a big guy, still fairly lean for the average Joe, but nothing compared to what I was. So right now, its a battle to be as much % I can be, even if its not 110% I'll make it 110% under certain circumstances. I believe that this uissue is what makes alot of people quit altogether, they cant be all, so they be none. This to me, is the hardest part of the sport.

Good post bro. I think many people can relate to the challenges of the balancing act modern life demands of us. It's tough.

You've just recently started a new job right? I have a feeling that once the new things become routine getting back to the gym with that fire you have will be easy.

Yeah, I have 5 weeks left of training, and then its time for the tires to hit the pavement once again. Dude, i've had about a dozen people in the gym tell me I've lost size, its like taking a ****ing dagger to my gut hearing that, we never want to hear that!!!

Oh man, I go insane when people tell me that. Can't imagine how hard that is. I think you'll eventually be able to get back where you were once things get going

Well you know that you can get it back in little time (muscle memory). So all of that work you doesn't really go away. It's there just waiting to be re-activated. The break may be a good thing. When I need to turn my attention elsewhere I keep with the gym but I just lower the volume - maintenance phase. You'll be back. It's in your blood.

Well, the good news out of all this is my strength is still really good. I'm doing that German Volume training right now and I'm staying pretty strong. I love that program, I get strong off it every time I do it. In the words of Arnold Scwharzenegger," I'll be back"

it is hard to balance the work and stress of daily life and stay focused at the gym. when the gains seem to come to a halt makes it that much harder.

Nice! Yeah, it's a nice feeling keeping those numbers up. I hate when I lose strength. I wish you well.

I had no balance at all. I lived, ate, and breathed nothing but bodybuilding for the past 8 years. In a way it hurt me, because I'd be afraid to persue anything that would effect my bodybuilding in the least way. So this is new to me, and I'm not used to it. My advice to anybody who is the way I was, is if your not trying to go pro with this, dont let it hold you back from doing other things and being well rounded. It can hurt you if your not careful.

Just type it under a web search. I'm warning you, the program is not the most exciting, but it'll get you strong fast.

I hear you on this one, i am starting a new job tomorrow and there is no gym around, and this job is 1hr from home each way. Gonna be tough, will have to figure it out. Nothing is more important than self preservation/financial situation IMO.
