Why the hype over brown rice?

the gi of brown rice is 54-55 and white rice is like 57-58, what the hell difference will it make whether cutting or bulking? theyre both considered a medium gi food...then when you mix it with a chicken breast the glycemic load gets almost cut in half...am i missing something?

that link shows white rice at 64 and brown at 55, i was looking at a different chart, but once you determine the glycemic load theyre at 23 and 18 per serving respectively. this is calculated when the person eats that and only that...nothing else with it like we would. so once you make that half your meal and, say, a chicken breast the other half that cuts the glycemic load in half because it is calculated by multiplying the gi and the number of carbs per serving. does this make sense or am i rambling?

just trying to throw out my new theory on gi and that i think too many people say well the gi of this food is this and dont take into consideration how many of those gi carbs are even in whatever youre eating.

also check out what the chart has for white and whole wheat pasta...pretty much right on exactly the same, except you get more carbs in a serving of white...which means if you have 40 carbs worth of white and 40 carbs worth of whole wheat pasta THE GLYCEMIC LOAD OF WHITE PASTA WOULD BE LESS THAN THAT OF WHOLE WHEAT PASTA...edited section...sorry i meant to say they would be EXACTLY the same, sorry

    sorry to yell

Well if this is the case, why not just switch over to white rice and white pasta for your carb meals and see what happens?

I've known plenty of people that cut up quite nicely eating white rice and normal pasta. They only monitored their macros and were fine. I'm pretty sure it isn't super-duper optimal to cut on them but I do know it works.

As long as you are eating your meals with protein, the GI will be lowered, so its not big deal.

Soy sauce as SC mentioed works wonders.. I also used to add a bit of chili sauce, or a bit of salsa... helps out a lot and tastes amazing... There are always ways og spicing things up.

You can also blanch the rice first in the pot with any seasonings of your choice, just making sure not to burn it - put temp on med-high, toss in seasonings (my pers. favourite is Club House Roasted Red Peppers) add rice, stir it aournd and let it cook in a bit.. and instead of adding plain water you can add flavoured water - either chicken or beef broth or water mixed with Taco seasoning..

I don't know how much soy sauce you are using but unless you are basically drinking it I doubt you're going to have a problem... I only use a few splashes of it when I use it anyways. Hell, Ronnie eats BARBECUE SAUCE AND FRENCH FRIES in his pre-contest diet and comes in shredded!

It all depends on your metabolism and your overall caloric intake, I would assume.

Care to try that again in a comprehendible sentence structure?

I have no idea WTF you even attempted to relay here. Less alcohol, more education.

You also need to fix your CAPS LOCK because it's stuck and you are capitalizing the first letter of every word.
