    My Second Chance at Life

    Hey you health/fitness guru's,

I thought this would be worth sharing. When you get a few spare minutes, check out http://www.didntquit.com. The founder of this site somehow came across my name and was able to obtain my contact info. He contacted me a few weeks ago and asked for my permission to write a story about my experience with cancer and how I used physical fitness to help overcome my illness. The story is called, "A Race with Cancer" and he did a wonderful job in creating a motivational story. Heck, I've found myself reading it over and over again as it helps bring myself back down to sea level. Enjoy.

    Grace and peace,
    Mavsluva

Thanks Hack. It's kind of out of my comfort zone to post this kind of thread, but I've recently discovered the responsibility of spreading my testimony to others. It has resulted in such great things for me. I guess the saying is true in that big achievements results in big responsibilities. All we need in life is hope, so here's my attempt in providing hope to others.

Kale, sorry to hear about the bad news pertaining to your daughter. What I can assure you is that it brought about a new light in your own life as it did for me. I'm glad to have shared the story as it probably meant more to you than it did for anyone else.

The best part about that marathon (including the fact that I had only been healthy for about 4 months) was that I had not trained a day for it. I finished in 4 hours and 57 minutes. Below is a link to the 2002 Dallas White Rock Lake Marathon results to prove it! (Do a "find" using "David Lowe" as the variable) I just used the mental strength and toughness that I had gained from my cancer experience to push my way through. I was HURTING upon crossing the finish line, but it was worth it!

Attached is a story that was written by a guy that ran the 2002 Dallas White Rock Lake Marathon shortly after I had been declared cancer-free.
