first off, i'm not a big fan of the half life engine. i'm a huge quake3 engine fan. i used to play Urban Terror (the quake3 mod that is a competitor to counter strike). Urban Terror is more fast paced...lots more action and much better graphics...better sound effects also.

but if you are into tactics and good team based FPS, i would recommend America's Army. its made and owned by the government...the US Army actually. its totally free and its suppose to be the most realistic one out to date. it costed 6.5 million bucks to make and it uses the unreal engine. me and my friends have been playing it quite a bit recently. personally, i think it beats the crap outta counter strike. to be honest, i bought counter strike, played it for >one< night and never played it again. ugh, i swear, once you play america's army, you'll never go back to CS...and its free free free!!! =)
