Its not the same thing. Not even a good analogy. A house its your property you own it. A car you may own. But your are using it on public roads. The state owns them. They are giving you permission to use them with certain conditions.

Why would anyone disagree? In socal they just ask you where you are headed, if they smell alcohol, they pull you over. If you dont have a license or insurance, are drunk, or under the influence of drugs, you should not be operating a vehicle. Anyone who says its entrapment or infringing on our rights probably falls into one of those categories. Wait until they shut down these checkpoints and your mother, wife, or daughter is killed by a drunk driver. We'll see how you feel then.

    Thank you...

I mean come on people. If you really consider being PULLED over for safety precautions to be a significant inconveinence than your life is pretty damn good. You coud be in another country being dictated...

Drunk drivers KILL people. And everyone that dies is someones father, mother, brother or sister.

Would you have a problem allowig the police to do their checkpoint if it would save YOUR mother or father?

    I wouldn't....

I've never been drunk in my life, and yes I've known people killed by drunk drivers. They could come up with a better way to do it. More patrol, harsher punishment more repeat offenders (I like counseling better, too many people "tossed" away in jail) most drunks that kill people are repeat offenders that keep driving even w/o a liscense. I don't think the "it's good for the public interest" is an excuse. We just accept every new law with " it doesn't effect me much"

well thats a good idea to treat the people who already caught. But how about stopping the new person who hasnt hurt themselves or someone else.

Are thousands not killed each year now, if they stop doing check points will drunk drivers kill us all. Most drunks are captured during traffic stops and citizens reporting a drunk driver. I don't think it does as much good as it lets on. They should only check for drunks, not the other bs I never thought of a freedom like driving "my" car to be a privilege.
I'm more against drunk drivers then most people, hell if everyone was like me there would be no achohol, because I don't drink and don't understand the whole "wasted" thing, but to each their own.
