    Need Some Advice

    Well here is the story I own several business ........ well my district manger is a long time friend i grew up with .... well i was just told that he insulted one of our mangers and when i just talked to him he didnt even deney it or EVEN SEEM SORRY ........... Now this is not the first time , he has been worned before. he made fat jokes infront of other office employees and a few are over weight and were very afended ........... now he cracked gay jokes and when the mager asked to please reframe from it he said somthing very nasty ......... now i hired this manger who happens to be a great guy and one hell of a worker since he has been there on the job he has trurned that store around 100% and for the 5 month in row turned a high profit damn near crushing one of my bigger stores

    well needless to say I am going to fire my district manger my long time friend , not that he is not a good worker but he has a very bad attuide and as a district manager he needs to be a leader ....... and his excuse was IT WAS A JOKE ...... well business is business And my manager Is a great guy and one hell of a worker I knew when i hired him he was gay And who cares !!!!!! he came recomended and has lived up to evey thing I heard .........

    So i am going to fire my long time bro I soo hate to do this he has a family and we are very close , but this is just one of many things he has done And i can not and will not put with bigits in any shape or form..... so am I doing the right thing? or should I just demote him?????????

    Dude I lead a team of 30 guys across Asia. We have a process we go through for this. I think give hin one more chance if he is as good as you say but it has to be a written warning. Layout the facts and what he is done. Discrimination is no joke. Be clear that if he fvcks up again he is gone, friendship or not. If you think that wont work then go ahead and pull the trigger.

    thats a tuff jam.. if i were you i would just demote his a$$ and put him on warning what will happen if the trash talk continues

    If he is such a dick making innapropriate jokes ect is he worth employing at all? What if he says this stuff in front of a big customer or something. Not only could you lose business but someone could sue your company for this kind of talk. Give the position to someone who has earnt it through hard work.

    here is the thing he has been written up 3 times allready not counting all the problems and complants i past over and now yet again another, and plus he cost us a major business contract because of a nasty comment in a meeting and now this..... i know we are best friends but when i was on the phone with me a while ago HE DID'NT even think he did anything wrong

    i dont know i am just thinking that enough is enough my wife seems to think he just keeps it up because of our friend ship and he does get away with 10X more than i would let any one i spent lots of money a while ago on getting Company bilaws and rules regs and damn if he is'nt testing them all

    If you've warned him before about making jokes etc. his time is up.
    Like you said, he needs to be a leader, someone to look up to, if he's offending people tell him to do so elsewhere.
    You also need to think ahead and see if your company is going to feel negative effects (money wise) if he's gone.
    Give him a serious talk/warning....and let him know there WON'T be a next time. JMO

    I've fired some of my closet friends before, they get pissed and stay away for a while and then they come back to tan and visit (of course these are high school girls that don't make a living from the job, so that is a little tougher) btw what do you do if you don't mind me asking. I own a tanning salon and a body jewelry store and plan on adding more locations very soon, always love to talk to a fellow business owner Ps fire the guy, if he's your friend he wouldn't put you in that spot to begin with

    Trash can him...give him a nice severance package...several months pay, and tell him to hit the door. If this were the first or second time I'd say verbally kick his ass...but there is a pattern of disrespect and feeling above the law...this wil not change...so hard as it will be....Bang!! you're gone.

    well i just talked with him again and here is the deal I told him that this was the last straw and that even though we are best friends I have 2 choices 1# fire him 2# demote him ............ he says will he still get the same pay as he is getting now ............ UMMMMMM hell no well he said he was sorry blah blah ....... so it look like i will let him go with a good sevrance package........ and now his wife is on the phone with my wife crying ohhhh man I feel like crap But I am done with this which puts me in a bind now for a district manger....... well i have a few in mind i have allways belived to hire with in give to my employees that are with me ....... not hire out side

    Thats what I would have done...just explain to your wife what you told us etc.

    what a A** he is taking me to court for falsely fireing him What is he insain he got on the phone with my wife saying this is bull shit what a jerk any way his sevrance just got smaller he is atking me to the labor board ....... GOOD LUCK i should just fire him I was going to lay him off say that i was doing away with the possion this way he could get unemployment and a godd severance well not now ........... and the fact that he was rude to the wife is not cool thats why he is in the possion he is in oh well so ends that sucks we were fishing buddies , hang out golf man this sucks

    Well i think as long as you have write up's and paperwork to prove that he has been a menace in your organazation and you have a good lawyer you should be ok in court because you have the paperwork to prove he has been trouble in the past. Good Luck!

    You to some degree created this situation - you should of never treated him any differently than any other employee.

    In a way you created him. You should have a set of rules applied to everyone - u said business is business but you were lenient with him and now u gotta pay the piper

    You are better off getting rid of him before someone that could win in court sues you for discrimination.
