Family bullsh*t

I'm pretty new on this forum. I've read a lot of posts, but never posted. I noticed that sometimes you guys give some really good advice on life issues. I have an issue.

I have two sisters and currently we are not talking to each other. To make a long story short, they don't like my boyfriend of about a year and a half. They both hate men, generally. Pretty messed up. I was told to choose between living with my boyfriend or living rent free on my older sisters property, I chose my boyfriend. Both sister's came over to my house, I ended up trading some blows with one of them because she told me to, "get the dick out of my mouth."and to "stop being such a ****." Problem is they have cut my parents off of communication as well. My parents are pretty hurt about that. This is obviously only my side of the story, but everyone wants me to be the "bigger person." and apologize for all this sh*t, exept my boyfriend, of course. What would you do?

Well, first , WELCOME TO AR

second. You can't live your life for your sisters, yes blood is thicker than water, but you only get one life to live, so they should live theirs and let you live yours.

I would not live rent free because the price they are asking is still too high.

Seem strange sisters to me. If you're happy, then what's their problem? They should be happy that you are. Why can't they accept that you have your own life and you'll live it your way? I think that sometimes to reach what you want, stepping on a few toes doesn't matter. Good luck and don't let it get you down.

Not really. We had a bad breakup about six months ago but since then have worked everything out. I did make the mistake of confiding in my sisters at the time. Both have been divorced and think that all men are there to use and leave. I think a lot of tension built up over the years because I live a different, healthy, lifestyle. It doesn't really have to do much with him. Neither sister likes that I don't drink and party all the time. They want me to join in their self distructive lifestyles and I refuse. Guess this is what I deserve for being stable.

Do what's best for you and. Because ask yourself this: If you demanded your sisters to do something for you, would they come through for you? I'm a firm believer in that family will always be there for you, regardless of what decisions that you make.

You family should stick by any choice you make. I'd talk to them, and explain your opinion, aswell allow them to voice their conserns. I think having a professional mediator or counselor would be best to organise this.

when you confided in them what exactly did you say about your boyfriend? i mean obviously it wasnt good because you guys had just had a bad breakup but if you told them that he hit you or something then i could completely understand their point of view.

i would think the main reason your sisters dont like him is because of what you have told your sisters about him, right? so what exactly did you say to your sisters about your boyfriend?

your sisters got some serious issues..

even if your bf did try to win them over somehow,
theres is 2 of them, and they feed of each other,
it would not work..
just write it off, as Hate them for life, on the next IRS return, and go on with your life.

They are the type of people that have to cause friction if they notice others have none in their lifes, kind of the "If i'm not happy no one else should be either" type people.
