I dont think you need that much protein before you workout but if you are eating about an hr before you go i dont see why you need a "booster" . You go to the gym for one reason only, so when you step foot in that door you should already be ready. Just my option.

I do sometimes drink a cup of coffee if that answers your orginal question at all.
